Senior Electrical Engineer - Qatar

Our client is a global Property Development firm who are world renowned for the development of iconic mega projects worldwide. Their key project is a city project that extends across 38 square kilometres and includes four exclusive islands and 19 multi-purpose residential, mixed use, entertainment and commercial districts. This is a comprehensive arena of leisure spots, residential buildings, commercial towers, avenues and public ports. This city will accommodate 200,000 residents and 170,000 employees and 80,000 visitors. They now seek to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer to review consultants design proposals, technical evaluation of tenders, monitor the work of third party consultants and electrical engineering contractors for compliance and adherence to client and power authority standards form from a design perspective.
This role is responsible to:
• Review and approve scale drawings of contracted consultants for all building permit submissions to ensure that it is in line with master plan and power authority’s regulations and the regulations for the state of Qatar.
• Work in close collaboration with Senior Managers to ensure ongoing projects are in line with company, electrical engineering and load requirements.’
• Review and provide input towards the technical feasibility study of the conceptual design regarding energy consumption, operational aspects and maintenance requirements.
• Direct, monitor and regulate activities of contracted consultants engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents to ensure adherence to the firm’s project concepts
• Interface regularly with the Management, Contract Management and Project Management internal teams to provide electrical design input throughout the design and construction phases.
• Identify critical issues in proposed project plans and provide suggestions in overcoming these issues.
• Ensure that the electrical design is in line with any requirements of the local regulatory authorities.
• Review proposals regarding system design, installation, specifications, materials and equipment to ensure compliance with company expectations and the regulations for the state of Qatar.
• Provide guidance to contracted architects / electrical engineers and consultants to determine functional and spatial requirements of electrical systems.
• Conduct periodic on site observation of work during installation to monitor compliance with quality expected and approved building plans.
• Coordinate electrical design requirements originating from special consultants or suppliers.
Requirements
The attributes we seeks for this role comprise:
• Bachelor of Science – Electrical Engineering is required as is Certification and Registration as an Engineer Grade A in the State of Qatar.
• Minimum of 5 years practical electrical engineering experience with Kahramaa endorsement would be highly regarded.
• Experience in electrical design from conceptual stage to final commissioning and handover of various types of commercial, institutional, entertainment, residential, retail, leisure and other activities.
• Experience in making models and prototypes of products as well as reading design specifications and technical drawings.
• Advanced computer skills and project management skills.
• Analytical ability and ability to work independently and as a team.
• Experience in expatriate environment is highly desirable.
