Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Performs advanced, complex power modeling exercises using convention or innovative engineering techniques, software and analyses. At this level, the Engineer is fully proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices. Assignments involve computer based modeling programs and applications (e.g. ETAP, PSS, IPSA, Neplan, SKM, etc).

Responsible to model the project power networks as a whole and partially for design, design validation, and feasibility purposes. Assists in the preparation of technical submittals related to different power system configurations required for recommendations seeking client and/or authority approvals of proposed system/network modifications, validation, and demand budgeting.

Responsibilities:
- Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important modeling work efficiently and accurately.
- Undertakes the preparation of modeling and associated calculations reports. Regularly interfaces with other engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
- Reviews modeling reports, calculations and other engineering materials that have been prepared by others and provides comments on the results of the reviews.
- Reviews modeling data inputs and outputs and verifies the validity of both in comprehensive reports with appropriate technical notes.
- Prepares and issues models, updates on models, simulation results, reports, recommendations, analysis etc documents.
- Provides technical advice to designers and engineers working on the same project.
- Leads, manages and coordinates the activities of all electrical engineering staff; and coordinates with the Infrastructure Design Manager
- Serves as primary interface with the design consultants and construction contractor in performing design reviews or addressing construction-related issues related to the electrical systems quality and performance.
- Understands all related codes and their application to the project; and overseas/manages the interface with local agencies to coordinate design standards usage and approvals process.
- Act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
- Maintains awareness of the project electrical specifications, drawings and design criteria
- Provides regular reports on progress to the Infrastructure Design Manager; and needs for additional or specialty staffing

Requirements

- Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University.
- 12-15 years of related work experience.
- Experience in HV/LV projects and electrical distribution, control and planning of infrastructure facilities including electrical substations, cables, and different types of industrial and domestic loads.
- Experience in the planning and design of large industrial or infrastructural projects is essential.
- Knowledge and experience with planning and design of large scale electrical systems and infrastructure.
- Experience in different advanced power systems modeling software packages.
- GCC experience is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of BS standards/ local Regulations and Codes.
- Has knowledge of I/Component associated with the HV/LV networks and substations.
- Has experience in the international and local practices in planning, design, construction, and operation of these systems.
