Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Ensuring profitable, on time and on quality completion of all QPM constructions at site structures, and infrastructure for a wide variety of projects across multiple locations to support QPMs vision of becoming a world class project management company.
Assignment includes the following areas: electrical LV/MV systems for buildings and utilities, lighting schemes for buildings and recreational areas/park, cables laying, emergency power supply and UPS.

Principal Accountabilities

Major Activities

A- Design Phase

• Work with line manager to establish high quality electrical services practices, methodologies, guidelines, procedures and detailing for ensuring effective design and implementation.
• Develop “working life templates” to capture client/stakeholders intent and requirements.
• Assist in the development of the RFP scope of services for consultants by establishing electrical deliverables matrix for each design stage phased gateways.
• Respond to tenders queries.
• Conduct a design review at each phased gateways on all electrical submissions and ensure completeness, correctness and compliance with the project intent.
• Ensure full incorporation of technical comment’s from previous design reviews.
• Review utilities connection points and ensure that building’s electrical loads are in-line with the development utility capacities.
• Evaluate consultant’s performance and report to client on work progress, areas of concern and mitigations plans as per contract’s scope of services.
• Propose alternative solutions to improve design, delivery processes and cost through value engineering workshops.
• Review, comment and take an action regarding the consultant’s queries, RFIs and facilitate as required.
• Evaluate and endorse variation orders/concession requests submitted by the Design Consultant(s) for client's approval.
• Maintain record of design deliverables for electrical trades and manage, in a timely manner, submittals and correspondences received.
• Monitor NOC’s procurement and coordinate externally with local authorities regarding the applicable regulation.
• Contribute in the contractor’s tender evaluation process.

B- Construction Phase

• Acquire a detailed understanding of the Contract documents (drawings, reports, and specifications), and advise project managers on matters related to electrical systems.
• Perform field activities such as: observing and recording existing site conditions, undertake and verify measurements, review contractors’ claims against the discipline documents.
• Monitor the flow of contractor’s as-built drawings and submittals, review them and raise issues and suggest alternative solutions if required.
• Monitor the onsite activities to ensure alignment with the service agreements.
• Assist in negotiations with contractors regarding the value of claims or changes in schedules and prepare recommendations on claims.
• Liaise with consultants, MEP supervisory engineers, inspectors, local authorities and ministerial agencies and assist the construction manager in monitoring NOC`s, procurement, quality reporting, quality audits on materials on site and permits with authorities.
• Review, comment and action contractor’s RFIs before submission to consultants.
• Review and comment on consultant’s feedback regarding materials’ submittals and contractor’s RFIs before reverting back to contractors.
• Monitor site specific purchasing activities so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled for delivering in time and high quality solution.
• Contribute in developing value engineering opportunities and provide feedback to the project manager and construction manager.
• Assess risks related to the site activities and provide input to the risk register maintained by project manager.
• Conduct the necessary required technical interfaces between all the electrical and ICT systems.
• Coordinate and manage the on-site activities related to the electrical activities.
• Advise and monitor onsite engineers as required.
• Work with the line manager to resolve any technical issues raised by the construction team.
• Serve as the centralized resource for all matters related to electrical services quality and provide feedback as required.
• Conduct the necessary coordination with Sr. ICT Engineer and other disciplines such as architectural, structural, landscape, HVAC and mechanical as well advise design managers as necessary.
• Establish and develop professional relationships with peer professionals in the industry to track industry practices and innovation.
• Meet clients to obtain feedback on QPM’s design and construction management methodologies and outcomes and use the same to make appropriate adjustment.
• Maintain awareness of industry trends, methodologies, tools and best practices.
• Adopt and adapt good practices from the industry into QPM to ensure continuous rejuvenation and upgrades to QPM’s engineering capabilities

Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 12 Years post graduate experience.

HV/LV projects and electrical distribution, control and construction of infrastructure facilities including water / wastewater pump station projects, wastewater treatment plants, electrical substations, district cooling facilities, etc.

Construction experience with large industrial and infrastructure projects is essential.

Knowledge and experience with design of large scale electrical systems and infrastructure. GCC experience is preferred.

Thorough understanding of BS standards / local regulations and codes. Knowledge of I/Component associated with the HV/LV networks and substations. Experience in the factory acceptance and other testing and commissioning activities of these systems. Full written and oral communication.
