The Role


The Role


• Reporting to Assistant Vice President – Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

• Responsible for ensuring safe working practices and procedures are implemented in accordance with the EKFC Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental policy.
• Deliver a cost effective maintenance service to EKFC operations through management of an effective and efficient & scheduled preventative breakdown maintenance service of all units in the facility.
• Implement proposed changes to equipment design and embed within maintenance team’s best tools and techniques.
• Accountable for ensuring the maintenance teams have clearly documented roles, responsibilities, expectations and accountabilities.
• Sets clear performance objectives that are clear, specific, challenging and achievable and provides regular and appropriate performance feedback to staff.
• Responsible for the ongoing development of Maintenance Systems, Procedures, Work Practices towards Best Practice and Lean Manufacturing Excellence.
• Control maintenance expenditure to budget by being accountable for accurate forecasting of major engineering activities at EKFC.
• Own engineering technical development and training matrices to build strong capable maintenance teams resulting in shorter time to repair and extended frequency of failure.
• Responsible for identifying Training Needs and execution of plans for the engineering teams.
• Designing programs to ensure that plant usage is optimized.
• Continual improvements and meet Key Result and Performance Criteria expectations in accordance with the departmental expectations derived from business plans.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with experience in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration maintenance or Automation.
• High standard of professional conduct including a high standard of verbal and written communication.
• Familiar with monitoring and control systems, such as Building Management System & Control Management System.
• Holds Occupational Health & Safety as a core principle by leading actions to proactively eliminate/control hazards and drives a behavioural approach to safety first within their teams.
• Customer focussed by recognising their role and contribution within the business and actively seeking creative solutions to improve delivery performance.
• Excellent people management skills by leading and managing team in an effective manner and employing positive cultural change within.
• Create plans to build improvement in maintenance & general engineering, whilst ensuring the infrastructure and organisation are sufficiently supported to ensure competency exists to deliver the change.
• Ability to align own work and those within the team to business & departmental goals. Can articulate the activity required at all levels and draws plans to ensure each team member has measurable aims.
• Results orientated, appreciating and delivering milestones through contingent planning and effective schedule execution.

About the Company


Emirates Flight Catering is 90% owned by Emirates airline, with the remaining share being held by Dubai Civil Aviation. In July 2007, the Company inaugurated its technologically advanced catering facility dedicated to servicing the flights of Emirates airline. The facility, with a built-up area of over 56,000 square metres and the capacity to produce over 115,000 meals per day, is the largest of its kind in the world in terms of volume throughput. It features high levels of automation including a 2.55km long electric monorail system for the transportation of meal carts, a bin conveyor system to transfer clean items from the Warewash area to the Production and Operations Departments, and a vacuum waste system with pipes over 600m in length.

The existing facility was originally commissioned in 1982 and has been continually updated and upgraded since then. The Company also caters to other airlines operating at Dubai International Airport. In total, the Company services over 110 regular airline clients.
