Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

To manage, coordinate, analyse and assess the financial activities of the projects and provide financial advice to contract directors to facilitate sound business decisions. Additionally to provide the Finance Business Partner (FBP) with analysis and reporting to accurately capture the performance of the business and forecast the future financial performance.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Support contract director(s) in controlling spend against their business plan and ensure they align with the business unit and Serco Middle East defined targets;
- Monitor and manage the activities for the relevant project(s) and ensure procurement, AP and AR are running smoothly;
- Monitor the controls of the relevant project(s) by ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to e.g. PO procedures, delegated authority limits, bank mandates and expense guidelines;
- Liaise with the Shared Service Centre and bank customer relationship managers on a daily basis ensuring smooth flow of accounting activities;
- Monthly journals prior to closure of books of accounts;
- Monthly scrutiny of books of accounts prior to closure including payroll review;
- Produce customer invoices;
- Consolidation of the monthly reporting pack for FBP review;
- Balance sheet management for relevant profit centre(s) with monthly reconciliations provided and clean balance sheet maintained;
- Produce accurate and timely cash flow for the relevant project(s);
- Consolidate Aviation cash flow on behalf of the FBP for review;
- Ad-hoc Cost reports to Business;
- Produce the Business Plan and Forecasts (P&L and cash flow) for the relevant projects as well as consolidation activities relating to these forecasts. Apply challenge the assumptions of the business plans and forecasts;
- Support the project teams with rebids or variations to contract;
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures;
- Comply with all Serco SMS Policies and Standard Operating Procedures and all local regional or contract related policies and procedures;
- Regular interface with contract director(s) and FBP to ensure understanding of operational issues;
- Champion for SAP for the Aviation Business Unit and support other team members in the use of SAP in their activities;
- Perform and carry out other duties as instructed / directed by the FBP.

Requirements

Knowledge
- Bachelor`s Degree in Finance and/or Commerce;
- Qualification or part qualification of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles;
- Knowledge of SAP financial and accounting software applications;
- Knowledge and experience of related computer applications including advanced Excel skills;

Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- A self-starter with a pro-active approach to problem solving.
- Ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to liaise in a professional manner with staff at all levels in the organisation and with external parties.
- Ability to positively influence key stakeholders within the business.
- Ability to develop self and team members and provide coaching to others to ensure they achieve results.
- Ability to work efficiently and productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Stay abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.

Experience
- A minimum of 4 years experience, in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, and providing financial advice;
- Experience in providing support to senior management;
- Middle East experience is desirable.
