Senior Financial Controller

Job description / Role

Were searching for a senior Financial Controller for a business based in Dubai which has operations in Nigeria. This is an exciting role which requires an innovative, dynamic candidate to work alongside the MD to drive the business forward.

General
Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Finance Dept.
Ensure compliance with statutory authority and audit requirements.
Maintain integrity of Accounting system (Orion), ensuring it remains effective and operational at all times.
Ensure all tax, legal and regulatory requirements are complied with at all times.
Update chart of accounts to reflect account management activities.
Responsible for the annual external financial audit.

Finance Administration
Oversee accounting entries and ensure the monthly reconciliation of all ledgers and sub-ledgers.
Analyse business performance / results, providing feedback to Senior Management.
Ensure adequate and accurate monthly accruals.
Ensure all services are rebilled to clients in line with inter-company contracts.
Ensure all supplier invoices are properly approved and suppliers are paid in a timely fashion.
In conjunction with the Managing Director and Senior Accountant, manage relationship with financial providers.
Ensure that receivables are monitored and collections are up to date.
Manage the IT outsourced function, including organization of IT support for staff and review of IT needs with the support of the group head of IT.

Budgeting / Forecasting & Reporting
Co-ordinate and prepare forecasts and annual budgets for approval by the MD and then by to Group Finance and Board of Directors. Where required, provide assistance / direction to managers with regards to the preparation of budgets
Ensure the accurate preparation / reporting of monthly financial results in strict accordance with group deadlines.
Ensure management reports are completed and reported in line with reporting deadlines.
Prepare profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow forecasts on a monthly basis.
Ensure any variations to budgets and forecasts are explained in management reports.
Collate all relevant information to produce end of year statutory accounts for the company.
Ensure that end of year statutory accounts report is finalised by specified date and presented to the MD for review.
On a monthly basis track and review expenditure against set budgets and prepare a variance report.
Ensure all company assets are monitored and accurately accounted for.
Provide weekly Cash position and Cash flow forecasts.

People Management
Be available as coach / mentor in assisting direct reports to develop in their positions.
Ensure that relevant information is communicated to direct reports enabling them to effectively carry out their functions.
Delegate tasks to direct reports in line with skill, knowledge and ability and where necessary identify skill gaps and training requirements.
As required, become involved in relevant personnel matters including recruitment, termination and counseling.
Complete performance appraisal of direct reports within Company specified time frame.

Requirements

* Essential characteristics:
7-12 years senior financial experience in a sophisticated and reputable company.
ICAEW, CIMA or ACCA qualified.
Ideal candidate will have top tier audit firm experience and at least +2 years in a corporate finance position.
Excellent technical and communication skills.
Highly discrete and able to uphold the utmost confidentiality.
Self-confident and very proactive.
Prepared to be hands-on to achieve results and maintain deadlines.
Likely to be aged 30-40 years.

* Important characteristics;
Culturally aware and sensitive
International business experience Nigerian experience not essential but advantageous.
Prepared to make a small number of business trips per year, including Nigeria.

Salary 40-50k
