We are urgently looking for a Senior Instrument Controls Designer to join our client’s project in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Our client is one of the leading EPC Company in the world and currently servicing multiple Oil & Gas & Petrochemical Projects with the Middle East.

Summary

The Senior Instrument Controls Designer must have a proven experience in the design of process units, pipelines, utilities and offsite facilities from conceptual stage through detailed design of medium to large size Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Projects. Thorough knowledge of projects/control systems engineering practices, economics principles, calculation methods, international standards, codes, specifications, and procedures. Minimum 10 to 15 years’ experience in FEED and detailed engineering of medium to large scale projects is required.

Reporting To: Lead CSE Engineer and Work Group Leader

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs as-built on site to check and consolidate the actual instruments and cabling system to ensure that it will be reflected in the actual drawings.
• Develops drawings (details and section, instrument block diagrams) of instrument, junction boxes installation and cables routing, locates existing marshalling cabinet, instruments and cables from Control Room to field and consolidate to layout drawings.
• Prepares cable and conduit schedules drawing and assigned materials (MTO) cross referencing the drawings for material codes that are based on Customers’ requirement.
• Prepare Interconnection Diagrams to determine terminal blocks and cables assignment, Instrument Loop Diagrams, Piping and Instrument Diagrams, Logic Diagrams.
• Performs specific functions within the discipline including development of new designs, preparation of data and specification sheets, calculations and construction scope of work.
• Converts sketches into practical schemes, fill out the details and generally confirm the designs are practical and plausible, to research details provided by Clients, Vendors or Sub-Contractors to finalize designs and allow materials to be specified.
• Participate in quality check and monitor compliance to standards and codes being implemented.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of "Bachelors Degree in Engineering"

Qualifications & Years of Experience:

Minimum academic qualification is a Bachelor of Science in Control Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering degree, with at least 10 to 15 years’ design experience in Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon and/or infrastructure industries.

Key Skills & Technical Competencies:
• Must be a reliable designer who can work independently or with minimum supervision
• Must be proficient in developing design drawings using Microstation
• Must have Distributed Control System (DCS) design and replacement experience.
• Must have SmartPlant Instrumentation experience
• Familiarity of International and Saudi Aramco engineering standards and procedures is desirable
• Must be proficient in English; oral and written communication.
