Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Job description / Role

Provide leadership, planning and technical support to all aspects of instrumentation & controls engineering associated with a variety of different sized projects and scope of services.

The Senior I&C Engineer will also implement efforts to improve product and engineering quality.

This role is recognized as a key contributor and leader within their value stream domain and interfaces with clients to achieve program goals and integrate FEED activities when necessary.

At this level, the Engineer masters the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a team of engineers and designers overseeing and preparing discipline deliverables while overseeing discipline scope, schedule, budget and quality.
- Prepares, reviews and/or approves instrument engineering control systems deliverables like P&IDs, Control System and Network Architecture, Instrument Specifications and Data Sheets, Loops and Schematics Diagrams, Control Panel Layouts, Instrument Location Layout Drawings, Cable Block Diagram and Cable Schedule, Control Room Layout Drawings, Control Schematic Diagram-control and logic diagram for control system equipment.
- Reviews and comments supplier drawing and documentation including Control philosophies, material submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
- Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately as related to instrumentation and controls.
- Act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on instrumentation control and Automation engineering related matters.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with other disciplines in support of projects.
- Hands on field as-building, design, commissioning and start-up experience required.
- Coordinates with the consultant in preparation of method of statements related to instrumentation works.
- Understands all related codes and their application to the project;
- Maintains awareness and updates as appropriate instrumentation specifications, project drawings and design criteria.
- Provides regular reports on progress to the Principal ICA Engineer and Engineering Design Manager; d Identifies staff training requirements and areas where additional or specialty staffing is required.

Requirements

- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering specialization in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering
- 10+ years of broad experience in instrumentation engineering and design related to large industrial or municipal, biological WWTPs, Water Treatment Plants and/or oil and gas related industries.
- GCC experience and advantage.
- Requires up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, International Codes and Standards in Automation and controls industry as related to water and waste water industry.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and perform in a key technical role, good written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required. In addition, must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
