Our client is a leading conglomerate of diversified companies with strong property and construction interests currently seek to appoint a Senior Legal Advisor for their construction and property interests to be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role works on contentious and non-contentious works with the candidate being commercially astute.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel, the construction legal specialist we seek will be responsible for the following:
- Provide professional legal advice, clarifications and legal opinions to the organisation on relevant aspects concerning property construction and operations projects, adopting a proactive approach to ensure that all legal provisions are adhered to and that the firm is protected from adverse legal consequences.
- Review the firms position with regard to local laws and regulations governing construction activities, monitor changes and advise senior management on their implications in order to ensure full compliance of construction projects to laws and regulations.
- Inform concerned parties about essential and statutory provisions and procedures related to the execution of construction projects in order to ensure that these are implemented in line with required standards.
- Develop standard legal documents and templates.
- Supervise and participate in the preparation if required, checking and review of contracts between the firms property construction and operations projects and outside parties to ensure correctness and accuracy.
- Manage the outsourcing of legal work relating to property construction and operations projects within agreed guidelines to ensure accurate, timely and effective completion of such work.
- Promptly attend to, diagnose, and participate in the problem solving of various legal issues pertaining to the firms property construction and operations activities to ensure that their legal status is compliant with local laws.
- Follow up with the external lawyers on the cases of dispute in order to remain abreast with latest status of legal matters pertaining to the firm.
- Attend regular internal meetings with legal expert legal researchers, and external parties (occasionally) regarding all issues pertaining to legal affairs such as legislation, contracts and revisions to maximize perspective and input into legal decisions affecting the firms projects.

Requirements

- A Law Degree and admittance in a relevant jurisdiction. A Masters Degree is highly desirable.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive practice experience in the fields of Property Law and Construction.
- Advanced writing and communication skills and familiarity with standard international construction forms and norms.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- English native speaker although bilingual skills in Arabic highly regarded.
- Experience in expatriate environment is highly desirable.
