Job description / Role
My client, a globally renowned Financial Institution is currently seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to be based in Manama, Bahrain. The role offers generous tax free package and benefits. Ideal candidate will have strong Corporate Commercial experience within the Banking & Finance sector.
Core Accountabilities
- Guaranteeing the legal safety of all metiers and activities carried out in branch / subsidiary entities in the Territory pertaining to all of the banks core businesses.
- Guaranteeing the legal safety of the transactions initialised by the bank entities with domestic clients and contributing to the legal safety of international transactions
- Applying the group legal policy including the choice and use of external counsels, assessing and validating the recommendations of such external counsels
Direct Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to the different businesses and functions across all the core businesses and business lines
- Draft and review contracts and agreements and ensure their compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as their protection of the banks interests
- Work with the business on the legal structuring of transactions
- Approve new products and transactions
- Collect and analyze information on legal issues and propose solutions
- Carry out punctual legal studies
- Advise the business on any legal issues with clients
- Participate in trainings and provide information to the banks departments to ensure a regular monitoring of the legal issues
- Ensure that the groups legal policies are complied with
- Comply with all of the banks policies and procedures
Expected Contributions
- Assisting the team with any ad hoc projects
- Contribute to projects driven by the central legal department
Requirements
- Banking and finance experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience
- Arabic is a must
- GCC experience is preferred
- Saudi experience would be great but not a necessity
- Willing to work independently is a must
- Law degree
