• Location: Doha, Qatar
Our client is a global network of sports channels with headquarters across the Middle East, France, Indonesia and the US is currently undergoing significant executive talent growth given its formation in 2012. The firm currently operates and provides services across the Middle East, North Africa, France, USA, Indonesia, Canada, Hong Kong and Thailand. The Executive Team are now looking to recruit 2 Senior Legal Counsels to their legal team to provide advice on legal aspects of all Sports activities. These roles are:
• Commercial Contracts including contracts for distribution, CRM, subscriptions, advertising and sponsorship.
• Technical and Service Agreements including STB, CAS and satellite distribution.
Reporting to the Director of Legal and working within the MENA Legal Team; this role is responsible for the following:
• Reviews and draft policies and regulations, to ensure consistency with applicable law relative to Commercial Contracts or Technical Service Agreements, as listed above.
• Keeping abreast of legislation and follow up legal suits and arbitration to which the firm is a party.
• Drafts, review and negotiates all contractual arrangements, including those with contractors, customers, consultants, suppliers, lessors, distributors, licensors and producers.
• Develops standards agreements and reviews all agreements to ensure the firm is protected legally.
• Responsible for the support of the firm’s security, safety, environment and Quality policies and programs, and carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in management system documentation, policies, procedures, local documentation, management System Manual, and other related documents.
• Provides legal advice to Departments on legal issues referred by General Counsel relative to Commercial Contracts or Technical and Service Agreements issues.
• Clarify and interpret laws to the firm’s management and keep abreast of relevant legislation.
Requirements
The attributes we seek for suitably qualified candidates comprise:
• Bachelor Law (Commercial / Business) from a recognized University with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in either Commercial Contracts or Technical Service Agreements with a minimum of 3 years TV or media experience being required.
• Knowledge in rights regulations and international laws within the Television or Media industry will be highly required.
• Experience in the MENA regional will be highly regarded with knowledge of Qatar laws and regulations being desirable.
• Exceptional communication skills with superior written and verbal English language skills.
• Ability multi task, work under pressure and problem solve are essential as well as the ability to work within a multi-cultural environment.
