Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Senior Legal Counselor shall assist in handling a part of his designated duties namely as legal advisor to businesses senior management and to designated units.

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in development, implementation and assessment of company-wide legal strategy in the areas of corporate, regulatory and compliance, contracts, operational and business development.
- Assist and support and work independently with other Departments in assessment and management of legal issues in support of various corporate, business or operational matters.
- Assess business risks and legal consequences of actual and contemplated corporate actions and decisions.
- Make recommendations for obtaining outside counsel to provide guidance and address obligations where necessary.
- Assist in assessing and advising senior managers about requirements and laws with potential legal obligations relevant to the company's operations, reputation, and strategic objectives.
- Review, draft and assess complex agreements.
- Assist in reviewing legal documents.
- Provide assistance in structuring the resolution of conflicts.
- Assisting in monitoring compliance in coordination with the Legal Department.
- Any other assignment referred to him/her by higher management.

Requirements

- Legal qualifications which are recognized in the State of Qatar.
- LLB or equivalent, LLM is preferable.
- Current bar association membership and in good standing.
- 8+ years of experience in corporate law with reputable institutions or law firms.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team environment and work well independently and under time constraints.
- Proven ability as self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic, superior organizational skills, and a record of accomplishment dealing successfully with complex issues with thorough analysis, the ability to innovate approaches to legal issues in support of strategic objectives, excellent judgment, business acumen, and common sense.
- Ability to effectively organize and present information to other departments.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of contacts including regulatory agencies, outside attorneys, clients, and business associates.
- Ability to identify actual and perceived conflicts and to resolve those effectively
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong commercial contracts and corporate transactional experience including: drafting, reviewing, negotiating, revising and advising on a variety of sophisticated and complex transactions.
- Experience with legal research, document collection, motions, and other matters relating to litigation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to relate and work well with people of many cultures, disciplines, and levels of experience.
- Good skills with computer productivity tools.
- Fluency in the Arabic and English languages is a must.
