The RoleThe RoleKAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) Senior Maintenance Engineer Division/Department: Laboratory Equipment Asset Management Senior Maintenance Engineers are specialized in servicing high-tech/high-end laboratory equipment and generally are designated as a product specialist for a specific set of laboratory equipment. Plan and execute preventive maintenance for laboratory equipment, as well as respond to corrective repair requests, relocations and upgrades. Team with other maintenance staff to deliver the highest level of service and equipment uptime. Major Responsibilities • Serves as team lead working with Maintenance Technicians to service assigned laboratory equipment. • Manages assigned work orders to assure timely resolution and quality of work performed. • Interfaces with Lab Equipment Operators/manufacture/Agents to understand problems, make diagnoses, and implement an appropriate course of action for servicing the equipment. • Maintains routine maintenance schedules including coordinating with Lab Equipment Operators to schedule equipment access. • Identifies required spare parts and facilitates the ordering process. • Diligently maintains Field Service Reports (FSR) and Installation & Commissioning • Reports (ICR) to record all service related activities on an equipment by-equipment basis. • Actively assists in planning installation and commissioning activities of new lab equipment when installed by vendors and/or a third party contractor. • Participates in safety programs and monthly safety meetings to comply with HSE policies and regulations to minimize accidents and injuries. • Assists with the organization and housekeeping of the repair shop including inventory of spare parts. • Provide training to engineers and technicians as needed. • Conduct the relocation of equipment as requested. • Maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with colleagues, subordinates, users, vendors, and other agencies. Non-traditional Duties • Ability to work shifts as needed • Ability to travel within the region and internationally when required Competencies • Ability to read and understand technical materials related to laboratory equipment repair and operation • Ability to use/operate electronic diagnostic equipment in the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment. • Is a team player with a flexible can-do attitude • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills • Ability to manage a varied workload, work quickly and under pressure • Aware of health and safety policies and lab safety rules • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with all parties • Excellent command of the English language (read, write and speak English) • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Programs • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and follow written and/or verbal procedures |
RequirementsRequirementsQualifications • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or similar discipline • Minimum of 8 years of continuously progressive maintenance engineering experience, preferably in a university or research lab setting environment • Should be familiar with university lab equipment including chemical, biological and material science equipment |
