The RoleThe RoleJob Purpose: The Senior Manager ElectroMechanical will be managing the ElectroMechanical department and in charge of strategizing and sourcing all EM systems and services required for Technical Facilities within the organization at the best terms for DU to become a carrier grade Telecom Service Provider. Principal Accountabilities / Key Result Areas: Build/Lead/Manage the team of EM Engineers to design & Build the EM systems and services in the upcoming projects of technical facilities. Ensure that companys policies and procedures are being followed. Review current policies and managerial reports periodically and propose changes to reflect organization changes. Personally manage, on exceptional basis, the more strategic RFPs, frame contract negotiations, and contract management related to EM system procurement. Present weekly update reports to management on department activities Analyze arising ad-hoc issues and come-up with solutions Act as one point of contact for the different stakeholders fulfilling the account management role. Work closely with other Technical teams & business units to keep informed of industry trends and identify long in advance potential future projects. Plan and develop strategies to support current and future internal and external EM related technical facility needs. Plan, organize, and staff his/her section as per the need and the priorities of the organization Review team performance and propose development plan. Work closely with Technical Facilities divisions to ensure the success of whole Civil & EM Department. Plan and develop the Dus Technical Facilities infrastructure (EM Related) to expand and/or enhance its current systems and services. Set short and long term plans for the future expansions and enhancements of the Technical Facilities requirements in UAE. Prepare budgets and optimize cost of the EM Development & expansion and enhancement projects to extend services nation wide. Monitor quality of the designs and implementations of the EM infrastructure expansion and enhancement projects. Participate in planning, designing, implementation and testing the EM expansions and enhancements in existing facilities. Develop, direct and/or projects manage internal and external projects with secure timely delivery of projects with high standard and specification and budget compliance. Review and analyze technology and service models on regular basis. Recommend and implement design and changes for improvement in the same. Prepare section and projects manpower plans and identify skills and training needs. Introduce, evaluate and test new technologies and products relevant to Technical Facilities Development to enhance systems and services, and to implement technologies of value to du. Carry out feasibility studies and evaluations for the projects and services in coordination with other du departments and units. Liaise with sections within du and other business units to introduce, develop and rollout new telecom related EM services. Prepare regular progress reports of the activities related to the EM Technical Facilities Development expansion and enhancement projects. Set standards for projects documentations and network EM - infrastructure design. Cooperate with other entities (e.g. Civil, Facility) to ensure viability and compatibility of design choices. Assist in the development of all inter-departmental and cross functional processes, systems, and templates to standardise functions, guarantee efficiency and responsiveness, and the delivery of quality output Maintaining working relationships with various operating entities to enhance coordination and cooperation and participate in cross functional committees. Identify training requirements of the EM team and develop and mentor team members. Contribute to the development of departmental budget Set objectives and conduct performance appraisals and quarterly reviews with EM team members. Ensure all resources required by team members to perform effectively are adequately provided Responsible for the development of the annual EM Technical Facility plans. This would include the strategic directions for the Network Development and the plans to achieve them. Developing EM product definition documents, including descriptions of product features and attributes and related technical specifications. Developing policies, procedures guidelines for the product. Develop detailed technical specifications and cooperate with different units of Network Development to ensure viability and compatibility of design choices. Align technology solutions with business strategies and work primarily with senior management. Analyze and lead change of business processes through utilization of appropriate technologies. To Develop & Implement strategies and advise on the feasibility of technological EM related advancements and their application in Technical Facilities. To liaise with suppliers and update the knowledge base. Review of established systems and preview of the up coming technologies compatibility. To Research and Develop technology requirements and oversee implementation and provide reviews. To manage resources to maintain and achieve the targets set To conduct EM design reviews, in conjunction with the respective groups of business continuity and disaster recovery and recommend enhancements where necessary. Produce recommendations to resolve weaknesses related to EM Incidents. Enhance productivity and morale of the subordinates and in turn delivering the best solutions and services to the end users. Direct, motivate, delegate, empower and develop team members/staff Define, Assess and prepare budgets and to assist the director in preparing the departmental budgets. Assist in developing and monitoring the KPIs for the EM Unit. Manage all initiatives (EM Related) initiated by the business related to Network development for technical facilities. |
RequirementsRequirementsQualification: Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 6+ years in the Electrical/Mechanical Field. Minimum 3 years experience in the Telecom field. Minimum 2 years Hands on experience in designing, planning and building EM systems and services in mission critical facilities. Experience in organization of a department in a start-up mode, previous experience in building teams and departments. High level Technical knowledge of EM systems in Data Centers. Core Competencies: Familiarity with key telecom services and equipment Good knowledge of Data Centers; Designing, Planning, Implementation and building. In depth knowledge of the TIA 942 standard and Data center infrastructure standards. Organization skills Negotiation skills Planning and strategic thinking Leadership Excellent project management and follow-through skills.
