Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Functional:
1. Refresh and maintain the Vision, Mission and Strategy for the institution in line with relevant industry best practice and the 2030 vision and policy agenda of the Abu Dhabi Government.
2. Develop and finalize the rolling strategic plan for ZAPIA involving strategic planning management team in alignment with Abu Dhabi Government direction and guidelines.
3. Support EPMO to develop detailed business project plans for each department part of the annual Business plan to ensure the alignment with the strategic plan.
4. Develop and manage the strategic planning process for ZAPIA and provide subject matter expertise to all parties concerned.
5. Develop initiatives for the different departments from the Annual Business plan and the short term Business plan.
6. Develop the annual Department objective from the annual business plan and KPI.
7. Provide internal and external environment analysis of factors affecting the institution and industry.
8. Identify the area which needs to be changed for betterment in the context of opportunities and threats within all functional areas.
9. Analyse/assess the internal and external business environment to identify areas for improvement based on known data, circumstances, international best practice and benchmarking efforts.
10. Consolidate the needs and expectations of all stakeholders periodically.
11. Create a rationale for each strategic goal/initiative.
12. Set strategic goals and strategic initiatives by benchmarking against best-in class organisations in the world.
13. Develop/propose the most suitable key strategic indicators for each strategic goal/initiative to monitor the organization progress.
14. Support the sponsors/ leaders of strategic initiative to implement all agreed initiatives as planned.
15. Help in training all nominated strategic initiative leaders and their core team members on project management methodology to carry out the agreed strategic initiatives.
16. Monitor progress of all strategic initiatives and goals through regular collection of performance data with EPMO and prepare periodical report to highlight progress and/or variances to the management and to ADGSEC through KM section.
17. Regularly review, update and adjust strategic goals and initiatives in line regional and global market trends, developments and policies.

People Management:
1. Coach/mentor subordinates within the department in the optimisation of their personal potential so that the departments objectives are met/exceeded.
2. Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings with the team as needed.
3. Follow HR policies and procedures in all areas.
4. Develop a positive work environment and encourage team work.
5. Serve as a professional role model.
6. Evaluate subordinates performance and give them timely feed back.
7. Orient existing and new staff on the departments responsibilities, activities, initiatives and KPIs.
8. Support Emiratisation efforts as required and appropriate.
9. Develop the UAE Nationals within the Department.

Other:
1. Prepare annual departmental budget, including manpower requirements, office infrastructure, office equipment, travel and professional development including training needs of all staff.
2. Monitor the departments expenditure against budget.
3. Follow financial and purchasing policies and procedures.
4. Attend meetings and conferences as required.
5. Keep abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth.
6. Perform any other related activity as requested and within authorised policy and procedure mandate.
7. Ensure EHS compliance in the SP section.

Requirements

- Minimum: Bachelor Degree in Business Administration/Strategic Planning, or similar
- Preferred: Masters Degree in Business Administration
- 5-10 years relevant experience in strategic planning
- Global business/strategy experience with leading international business or relevant conservation/wildlife organizations preferred
