Job description / Role
The Senior Engineer would be responsible for the design of all the marine structural works and civil works such as quay walls, crane beams, jetties, bollards, genders, heavy duty pavement.
Responsibilities:
- Playing an active role in the design of all marine and civil structures in relation to infrastructure and ports projects
- Procurement of design teams and /or other consultants
- Assisting in the preparation of tender documents
- Preparation of calculation and project documentation including specifications, drawings and reports
- Overseeing all construction works
- Development of the cost plan and reviews of this at relevant design phases against the project budget
Requirements
- Degree qualified; preferably in Civil/Marine/Structural Engineering
- 9 to 13 years experience with proven experience in marine structures and civil works (quay walls, crane bream, jetties, bollards, fenders, heavy duty pavements)
- Willing to travel to Eastern and Western Provinces
- Experience in coastal protection structures design such as revetments and breakwaters is a plus
- Software experience: family with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD Pro, Wallapp or equivalent packages
- Conversant with relevant marine design standards such as BS 6394 and relevant parts of PIANC
