Senior Mechanical Engineer - Water Pumping Stations

As our Water and Environment Division in the Middle East continues to expand, we have recently won a number of high profile projects for private developments, utility companies and government organisations. We are seeking to recruit for an immediate permanent site based position of Senior Mechanical Engineer, to oversee construction supervision of major potable water pumping stations, located in Bahrain. This is a large and prestigious project which will continue over the next few years.

Working as Client Representative within a multi-disciplinary team, for supervision of the construction works which are being carried out by an EPC Contractor;
- review/comment and approve Contractors design, material submittals, drawings and other project relevant documentation and correspondence;
- plan, monitor and supervise work of other construction supervision Engineers;
- represent the company in technical meetings with our clients, supervise the work of more junior staff and provide technical and professional guidance to assist their development
- coordinate with the Client and Contractor and liaise with relevant Authorities;
- proactive liaison with all parties for site safety;
- ensure prompt exchange and recording of correspondence and approvals;
- witness site acceptance tests, commissioning and trial run tests
- review and approve As-built documentation and O&M manuals

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 13 years of engineering experience, 10 of which will have been in construction supervision and 5 years on projects in water sector in the Middle East
- Possess strong technical background in potable water pumping station design, particularly in association with pumps, building services, ductile iron and/or steel large diameter pipes, surge protection, materials specification;
- Experience of large diameter welded steel tanks an advantage
- Demonstrate competence in managing and leading other team members
- Familiarity with applicable international standards;
- Experience within a consultancy environment specifically in the water/wastewater industry;
- Must have previously worked water/wastewater pumping station projects;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language, with good report writing, analytical and computer skills.
