The Role


The Role


JOB PURPOSE:
To provide mechanical engineering advisory and design services for the ORYX GTL Debottlenecking Project through the various project phases for all of its sub-projects.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
-Departmental Policies & Procedures
Contribute to the development and oversee the implementation of department policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of DOT activity to ensure that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.

Safety, Quality & Environment
-Ensure that all relevant safety, quality and environmental procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Management of Change
- Management of scope changes related to mechanical equipment throughout the project life in accordance with the project’s MOC process.
Feasibility Studies, FEED and Detail Engineering
-Determine and review mechanical equipment related calculations (e.g. HVAC, Piping, and Rotary) for all sub-projects in accordance with ORYX GTL’s requirements.
-Review, evaluate and attest external contractor feasibility studies, design basis memoranda and front end engineering designs (FEED) for all assigned projects.
-Develop mechanical engineering scope of work for all assigned projects as per the project phase requirements
Engineering Deliverables
-Review and approve all mechanical and piping engineering deliverables developed by consultants or contractors up to final delivery ensuring that ORYX GTL quality standards are met.
Third Party Consultation
-Interface with third parties such as engineering consultants, suppliers, vendors, inspection agencies including Q-companies, local authorities and departments on all mechanical engineering matters to ensure designs developed are deemed ‘fit for purpose’.
Technical Support
-Provide technical support on mechanical engineering issues in the review and approval of bidders, detail designs, material purchase requisitions, construction method statements, pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures.
Factory & Site Tests
-Witness and accept Factory and Site Tests (FAT/SAT) and inspect completed equipment installations to ensure compliance with design and specifications as required by the project.
Site Visits
-Conduct site visits as required to ensure contractors compliance to ORYX GTL QA/QC requirements.
-Issue non conformance reports in order to monitor and record adequacy of mechanical works.
Design Review
-Contribute to design review meetings, value engineering, risk assessments and project risk studies (HAZOP/HAZAN) in order to provide mechanical engineering expertise.
Engineering Standards
-Review and modify mechanical engineering standards in order to ensure ORYX GTL standards are updated and aligned with international and local engineering standards.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
-Deliverables comply with ORYX quality standards.
-Deliverables are submitted as per predefined schedules.
-Adequacy of feasibility studies, design basis memoranda and FEED.
-Safety risks and hazards are minimised.
-Contractor’s compliance with Oryx GTL’s mechanical scope of work.

PROBLEM SOLVING:
Broad policy guidelines on results to be achieved. Will determine most effective approach to work, identify required resources and agree with his / her manager timetables and anticipated results.

Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum Experience:
- 10 years of experience with at least 8 years in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Expertise in all of the following project phases: Requirements documentation, FEED, detailed design, implementation, system integration, testing and on-site startup.
