Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Investigate performance issues for critical applications and suggest improvements
- Recommend solutions for problems based on root cause diagnosis and analysis.
- Work with business on setting application monitoring and thresholds.
- Design master dashboard and reports templates.
- Develop advanced monitoring, dashboarding and customisation (requires software development)
- Be a mentor and coach for assigned (Associate) Performance Engineers in the team.
- Involved in performance testing phase of projects
- Provide technical consultation and specialized programming if needed.
- Installs, manages, and administers monitoring of mission-critical systems
- Co-ordinate a virtual team involving people from infrastructure, application support, development, architecture and the business/stakeholders. Escalating to the appropriate IT staff or vendor when necessary.
- Co-ordinate activities among different business and technical groups.
- Carry out assignments, alone or as part of a team, applying knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the issues and problems raised and proposes viable solutions within the acceptable scope.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of current practice within own area of expertise.
- Make recommendations at project phases (improvements to application architecture, how to conduct performance testing, suggest recommendations for architecture/infrastructure)
- Involved in vendor selection of new applications. Providing advice on RFPs (from performance and monitoring perspective)
- Make performance related recommendations to Technical Leads
- Assist in the documentation of existing systems and processes
- Conform to IT and bank policy and procedures.
- Performs at or above the enterprises Information Technology performance standards.
- Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, vacation, or education.
- Strives to learn the job functions of the positions immediate superior as well as peer-level positions with whom the individual interacts. It is the responsibility of the individual to be prepared for temporary re-assignment and/or promotion due to extended illness, personal emergency or business necessity

Requirements

- A University degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in IT systems implementation, software development or consultancy.
- Experience with banking industry systems is desirable, but not mandatory.
- Experience in developing or architecting mission critical software applications is desirable, but not mandatory. Good Web Technology knowledge ( For example, Java/.NET)
- Good knowledge of databases, infrastructure, application servers, technical architecture, security and application performance management.
- Experience of performance testing is a plus
- Good written and oral communication skills. Need to be able to present to technical and non-technical people.
- Must be detail oriented, able to multi task and capable of co-ordinating virtual teams.
- Good team player with the ability to work very effectively in a collaborative and team-oriented manner with other team members.
- Must have initiative and a positive work attitude and must be a quick learner with a zeal for self-learning.
- Must be confident, eager and willing to take on new challenges.
- Must be cooperative with good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
