Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

To manage engineering projects from conception to final close out. Utilise available resources and best practices to deliver safe, cost effective, timely, and reliable production facilities. Ensure engineering design procurement and construction activities are undertaken in accordance with contractual requirements and specifications.

Departmental Policies & Procedure:
• Contribute to the development and oversees the implementation of department policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of projects department activity to ensure that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers

Project Management:
• Manage internal multi-discipline projects (on occasion several concurrent projects) including all related activities such as Front End Engineering Designs (FEED), detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning to ensure that all phases of the project are completed within pre-defined timelines and budgets.
• Monitor overall progress of the project making recommendations where needed in order to increase productivity, minimise costs or improve quality.
• Review daily construction reports and take actions to correct slippages in order to recover lost time.

Contracts and Contractor Management:
• Manage FEED and EPIC contracts with engineering and construction contractors ensuring ORYX GTL¡¦s interests are protected and to ensure maximum cost efficiencies are achieved without sacrificing quality.
• Act as a project focal point as assigned by Head of Projects in order to follow up with vendors on any issues from technical clarifications to payment issues.
• Verify and approve the Value of Work Done against contractor invoices and recommend payment to be made in compliance with contractual obligations.
• Assess contractor¡¦s claims for time and cost and determine validity and actions to be taken.

Tendering Process:
• Review and evaluate tenders and make recommendations to tender committee on suitability of contracts.

Project Preparation:
• Contribute to the preparation of scope descriptions, justifications, cost estimated and outline programmes for new projects as a key collaborator to the project management process.

Risk Assessment:
• Initiate risk assessment of projects, review and endorse risk assessment results and recommend course of action to ensure mitigation of risks.

Deliverables:
• Participate in review and approval of FEED documents, Design Basis Memoranda, Scopes of Work and EPIC contracts to ensure alignment across all aspects from a project management standpoint.

Completion and Handover Certificates:
• Attend final inspections on completed projects, initiate 'Contract Completion Certificates' and Handover Certificates' after checking back-punch list items have been cleared by the contractor in order to complete and submit the project documentation dossier.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical)
• PMP Certification

Minimum Experience:
• 10 years of experience in a project management role with minimum 8 years in a petrochemical company
