Senior Project Manager

Job description / Role

Responsible for one or more projects or for the management of large and/or complex projects. This may involve the management of Project Managers who will report to the Senior Project Manager.

- Has overall responsibility for monitoring and supervising all activities related to an assigned project(s) ensuring completion to budget and time schedules. This will include the monitoring of companies in relation to project management schedules, use of sub-contractors, and on-site construction engineering activities.
- Responsible for providing feedback regarding project progress, deviations, and changes and ensuring delivering the projects to acceptable Lusail standards.
- Assists Contract Department in development and implementation of the contracting strategy for selection of appropriate companies to ensure adherence to procedure and governance.
- Supervises the project team to ensure completeness of technical brief for the tender and optimal technical and financial evaluation.
- Provides day-to-day direction and works with Lusail staff to ensure a high performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the Department's and Lusails mission, strategic plan, objectives and values.
- Operates Lusails personnel policies and procedures and performance management processes for project staff. Keeps abreast of technical developments, relevant regulations and industry best practice.
- Defines and communicates roles, responsibilities and authority to Lusail project team members, to ensure project completion in a safe manner, within budget, on schedule, and in conformance with the appropriate standards, specifications and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Overall responsibility for provision of technical input regarding project and construction management to the Design Manager, during the design and development phase of the project. Depending on the nature of the project, the Senior Project Manager will give input directly to the Design Management Department or delegate certain areas to reporting Project Managers.
- Ensures Project Management participation in review of bid tabulations for accuracy.
- Depending on the nature of the project, the Senior Project Manager will give input direct or delegate certain tasks to reporting Project Managers if appropriate.
- Reviews draft contract and participates in contract negotiations. Ensures proper and clear division of responsibility between Lusail and partners where there is integrated work processes.
- Overall responsibility for ensuring scope, design basis and objectives are defined; best practices/lessons learned are identified; detailed work plans, schedules, budgets and procedures are established including: execution plan; contract plan; plan for addressing critical cross-functional work processes and systems, etc. Depending on the nature of the project, the Senior Project Manager may delegate certain tasks to reporting Project Managers if appropriate.

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related engineering degree.
- Minimum 15 years of work experience in the Design and/ or construction of buildings in general with emphasis in high rise buildings, of which at least 9 are in a project management capacity.
- GCC or Qatar Experience is preferred
- Knowledge with materials, methods, tools involved in construction of buildings.
- Knowledge of different international standards, design techniques, and tools in the construction, planning, estimating & project management.
- Knowledge of international conditions of contract such as FIDIC conditions.
