Senior Quantity Surveyor (Variations) - International Sub-contractor - Qatar

This project involves the design and construction of six underground railway stations and 20km of twin track train tunnels.

There are QAR1.6Bn in variations so far. Further major variations will be quantified and processed with the Employer/Engineer.

The contractual requirements for notifying variations are stringent and thus the design development process has to be closely monitored to identify variations as they arise.

Requirements

The Senior Quantity Surveyors tasks will include:
- Liasing closely with the Contractors design team to identify variations as they arise in the design process, notify the Employer/Engineer of the variation and measure and evaluate the variation, including design and drawing cost.
- Liase with the Provisional Sum Sub Contractors and put in place procedures for the notification and processing of these variations to the Employer/Engineer.
- Agree the cost of the variations with the Employer/Engineer.
- Develop strategies with the Contracts Manager in the event of a dispute developing over the variation
- Maintain tracking logs of the variations from notification to conclusion.
- Provide input into the monthly commercial report on the status of the variations with details of those agreed in progress or disputed. Place provisional values (Low/Medium/High) on the value of these variations.
- Previous experience and a proven track record in this field is a necessity.
