Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Turner & Townsend is recognized as one of the leading international cost & project management consultancies that specialise in the construction, infrastructure & natural resources industry.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage a diverse range of construction projects including infrastructure & civil engineering projects in Qatar as part of the regional team. The chosen candidate will also have experience working with the consultancies, for example design, marketing, project management consultancies associated with these projects.

Your job will be to assure and deliver all Post Contract Quantity Surveying / Cost Engineering functions and responsibilities across all designated projects, across the full project life-cycle from inception through to construction, completion & final settlement.

Team Management

• Provide primary point of contact for all matters relating to the full suite of quantity surveying / cost engineering services including reporting in support of the projects the team
• Manage a team of 4/5 QS necessary and appraise the performance of QS team members

Client Facing

• Maintain close liaison with the client’s staff to maintain satisfactory working relationships and to identify potential problem areas.
• Working directly with various consultancies (e.g. design & marketing consultancies) to prepare budgets during various phases of the design process

Cost Control

• Establish project requirements with regards to scope of services, organisation, and job specific procedures and cost reporting
• Manage cost engineering work on assigned project to ensure that activities are effectively planned, resourced and completed
• Analyse and compile accurate and detailed budget estimates
• Review the total Project estimates to ensure accuracy of estimated project cost
• Cost & cash flow management
• Analyse cost trends, prepare forecasts and propose mitigation measures

Project Change Control

• Full management of Project Changes to determine legitimacy and estimated impact to project schedule and budget.

Post Contract

• Manage cost variances and change control processes
• Evaluate contract price adjustment provisions
• Prepare and agree final accounts
• Claims costing

Requirements

Thorough and detailed technical knowledge of all aspects of Quantity Surveying / Cost Engineering, from inception through to completion of projects, including expertise and experience working as a Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer in a Infrastructure / Civil Engineering environment on large and complex projects

Essential

• 3 years Middle East experience
• Major multi-disciplinary projects with Civil Engineering/ Infrastructure experience
• 10 years experience from either a client, consulting or contracting background
• Proven experience of Infrastructure/ Civil Engineering schemes in excess of $100 million
• 5 years Post contract experience including consultant payments, variations & claims costing
• Client facing experience – dealing with various types of consultancies
• Previous supervision / management experience

Desirable
• Chartered Surveyor or Engineer
• Project Management experience
