CH2M HILL - Senior Resident Engineer (HV Electrical) - Doha, Qatar

Job Purpose:
The Senior RE Electrical role challenges you in leading, directing and managing the multidisciplinary site supervision, testing and commissioning team on site through to completion of the hand over and defects liability periods.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Perform the duties of Senior Resident Engineer on site.
• Reports to the Senior Resident Engineer managing the construction contract.
• Management and direction of a team of Resident/ Assistant Resident Engineers for overseeing the electrical construction of the HV electrical infrastructure designs for Lusail City.
• Identifies the resource requirements for the effective supervision of the electrical construction works, and works with the project controls team to gain client approval for the positions.
• Acts as the Clients prime point of contact for the electrical construction supervision aspects of the project, including progress reporting, safety, financial recommendations, quality control and design modifications.
• Builds a trusted relationship with the management team and with the client’s counterpart staff.
• Establishes an appropriate working relationship with the contractors.
• Places an emphasis on safe construction practices (Target Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction. Leads by example in driving safe practices on site.
• Uses effective project management and controls systems to regularly report on progress to the client.
• Monitors progress of the electrical construction against the programme and takes steps to ensure the programme is achieved.
• Establishes and enforces effective project quality control procedures and ensures that they are audited in accordance with the contract requirements and CH2M Hill’s internal systems.
• Plans, budgets, organizes and coordinates activities for the effective management, control and reporting of the electrical construction supervision of the projects.
• Manage software and systems required for the administration of the electrical construction supervision.
• Evaluates, selects, and adapts construction management and control techniques, procedures, and criteria to suit job tasks, and devises and implements solutions to problems encountered.
• Ensures that the Resident/ Assistant Resident Engineer team members effectively identify, manage and report project risks.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Job Requirements/Qualifications/Experience:

• Recent previous experience (within last 5 years) as the Senior Resident Engineer for major electrical infrastructure projects including the HV electrical distribution network, pump stations, electrical sub-stations that are complex in nature, and are ideally located in the Middle East region.
• Minimum 20 years' post graduate experience in the design, site supervision and construction management of major infrastructure projects including pump stations, electrical sub-stations and utility tunnels.
• Have a BSc in a relevant degree from an internationally recognized and accredited university.
• Minimum of 10 years post chartered (or PE registration) experience.
• Fully understand the aspects of site supervision and construction management of complex HV electrical infrastructure and distribution networks including pump stations, electrical sub-stations, utility tunnels etc.
• Experience of testing and commissioning works for Qatar statutory authorities including Kahramaa Electrical.
• Knowledgeable of construction specifications and standards, and familiar with different international standards, such as BS and EN, used in Qatar.
• Be enthusiastic about improving the safety performance of site operations in Qatar.
• Be commercially astute and expert at administering construction contracts.
• Be able to communicate effectively with site teams and motivate them to meet the project objectives.
• Good leadership skills, and be able to work in a multi-cultural and multi-discipline team.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills, and good presentation skills in English.
• Written and spoken Arabic skills are beneficial but not essential.
