Job description / Role
AECOM is currently requiring a Senior Resident Engineer to lead a major infrastructure & buildings package of work for the new Naval base. The Package involves key elements such as Roads, Pavements, Drainage, Fire, Electrical and Communication Services. You will be responsible for leading the team of 20+ construction supervisors to ensure all contractor works comply with the specifications and the program. Liaising regularly with the client and Program Management team to resolve issues as well as regular site presence to manage progress.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leading the delivery (time, cost, quality) of the Navy base infrastructure works package.
Supervising and managing the contractors to ensure the works are constructed as per specification and to established milestone dates. Managing and directing the supervision team to undertake day to day inspections of the works.
Maintaining a very high level of Safety awareness and ensure the contractor complies with his obligations. Administering the FIDIC base contract with the contracts manager.
Removing bottlenecks to delivery on behalf of the contractor.
Resolving site issues on site.
Presenting progress and package issues to client team.
Negotiating changes to the scope of work with the Client and contractors.
Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with the project.
Acting as the Company representative with the Client and Contractors during the project construction. Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the Client and key subcontractors. Responsible for following up on instructions & commitments associated with the project.
Establishing Project Execution Plan, Health & Safety Plan, Quality Control Plan and other documents.
Establishing the program requirements for all areas of the project and monitors site staff performance.
Planning, directing and supervising the execution of all technical, fiscal and administrative functions of the project and the site team.
Assigning responsibility to key subordinates in their respective fields of expertise.
Providing input to performance reviews and develop plans for subordinates.
Working with other managers, project engineers and discipline Heads to develop budgets, schedules and plans for the various elements of the project.
Monitoring and reports to management on the progress of all project activities within the program, including significant milestones and any conditions, which would affect project cost, schedule, performance or Client relation.
Establishing internal weekly meetings to review project status and formulate action items
Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Representing the company in all Client meetings.
Requirements
*Minimum Requirements
A minimum of 15 years of related senior construction supervision/management experience on Roads, Pavements Services and Infrastructure projects with a broad general engineering background.
This person will need to have excellent working knowledge of industry practices/safety and quality management systems, as well as thorough knowledge of current technology.
*Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction or equivalent.
Professional Engineer or CIOB registration is an added advantage.
The successful individual will have experience in:
FIDIC contracts
Experience working for a contractor
Worked are large value ,projects in the GCC
Project experience across large buildings & infrastructure projects (IE, University, Airport )
