The Role

The Role

Al-Futtaim's Retail Division holds a stable of world class brands operating in buoyant markets with huge growth prospects. Some of our brands are Marks & Spencer, Toys R Us, and Ikea as well as Robinsons with a range of smaller brands selected for their appeal to the markets in which we operate. We currently operate our Retail outlets across the Middle East and in South East Asia. We are in the final stages of outline planning for massive growth and need to prepare for the next phase of this program. In line with our move to address the gender balance of our senior people, we will particularly welcome applications from suitably qualified women to fill these critical roles.

We need multiple senior, experienced Retail Leaders to take full accountability for leading multiple big box and chains of smaller outlet stores. These roles will report to the President Retail or Managing Director level depending on the nature of the actual role. We need people who can take our corporate vision and translate it into an executable plan, operationalise the plan and deliver results to schedule. In short, we need excellent retail execution in a context of corporate wide customer centricity.Sounds like you? Read on ...

Requirements

Requirements

You will bring to us broad, diverse experience in retail leadership at a senior level of multi-store brands with exposure to the full range of challenges including market research, customer engagement, supply chain and logistics management, IT, buying and stocking, security and safety and compliance with a Principal's policies. You might have big box or boutique outlet chain experience and you might come from sectors as diverse as middle market fashion, toys, DIY, furniture and home wares but you will understand the needs of an international footprint, regardless.

Challenges excite you and you test every idea, suggestion or question in a new market with analysis rather than copying and pasting your old solutions and working from memory. A work mix of pursuing commercial opportunities through innovation and analysis and providing a perfect customer experience keeps both sides of your brain balanced and every day is a new one of continuous improvement.

You will need a long pedigree in Retail senior leadership to be taken seriously for these newly created, first class opportunities. Additionally, we are insisting on tertiary education or Retail Management qualifications and sound commercial acumen. Beyond that, we'd like to see exposure to SAP or an equivalent Enterprise Resource Program such as Oracle as well as good use of the MicroSoft Office suite of products.

Give yourself the best chance possible by please fully completing the answer to every question in our application process. For instance, we need you to help us by identifying your gender and countries of citizenship and residence to assist you.

About the Company

About the Company

Established in the 1930's, the Al-Futtaim Group initially operated as a trading enterprise. Rapid development throughout the 1940's and 50's saw it establish itself regionally as an integrated commercial, industrial and services organisation, positioning itself one of the leading business houses in the lower Gulf region. Today, it operates collectively over 40 companies bearing the Al-Futtaim name, dominates many market segments in the UAE, and has expanded its sphere of operation to include Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Egypt.

The Group comprises a diverse range of strategically positioned operating subsidiaries and associate companies, structured to give the Al-Futtaim Group the flexibility and versatility to keep ahead of local competition while keeping pace with the ever-evolving global business scenario. The Group’s continued investment in world-class systems technology is clear evidence of its commitment to maintain leading edge performance and service delivery.

The success of the Al-Futtaim Group can be attributed to a business approach that combines the ability to change with the traditional values of integrity, service and social responsibility that define its core business philosophy. This, linked with the Group’s belief in decentralisation, gives the heads of the operating companies a high degree of functional autonomy and authority, providing the Group with essential flexibility, and individual employees a clearly defined work culture and sense of responsibility.
