Senior Security Consultant

We are currently searching for a Senior Security Consultant to join our Safe and Secure team working in Abu Dhabi. The Buro Happold Safe and Secure team is growing to accommodate increasing demand in the region for high quality strategic security consultancy.
The Senior Security Consultant is required to provide high level security analysis and design advice to the Group acting as Project Leader on projects, as required.
Senior Consultants will work closely with clients, architects and other Buro Happold Engineers as part of a dedicated and skilled team.
The correct individual must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 5 years experience of security risk consultancy. The individual must also hold a Bachelors degree (BEng) / BSc or Masters degree (MEng) / MSc that meets the engineering academic requirements for chartership, and a member of at least one recognized professional body e.g. Register of Security Engineers and Professionals, ASIS, Institute of Risk Management, Security Institute or equivalent.

Responsibilities:
Lead the security risk assessment process, conduct threat & risk assessments.
Develop security concept and risk mitigation solutions
Undertake the role of Project Leader.
Work competently on an independent basis, as well as collaborating within the design team and leading the project team.
Communicate directly with external stakeholders.
Prepare technical proposals for new work.
Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary risk mitigation solutions for detail design.
Co-ordinate the production of Technical Specifications for security and risk mitigation measures.
Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the clients best interests and that Buro Happold policy is in keeping with current legislation, Local codes and British Standards and Codes of Practice.

Requirements

Qualifications
Bachelors degree (BEng) / BSc or Masters degree (MEng) / MSc that meets the engineering academic requirements for chartership.
Member of at least one recognized professional body e.g. Register of Security Engineers and Professionals, ASIS, Institute of Risk Management, Security Institute or equivalent
Chartered Engineer or Security Practitioner or equivalent is desirable but not essential

Essential Experience
Over 5 years experience of security and risk consultancy or similar role
Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with ability to work independently
Chartered membership of a professional institution
Broad security knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects
The applicant will need to have strong interpersonal and organisational skills
Desirable Experience
Ideally, the candidate will also have considerable experience working on international projects, as well as domestic projects.
Finance and Budgets
Actively contribute towards delivering profitable projects in the context of project finances.
Monitor financial performance of jobs, with the setting up and managing of job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary.

Reporting
Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions.
Ensure all necessary Buro Happold staff are informed of relevant client matters.

Planning and organisation
Responsible for planning, organising and managing personal workload in order to meet deadlines in line with client commitments.
Proactively raising concerns regarding workload and ability to meet deadlines.
Maintain an overview of the project teams workload and commitments in order to successfully meet deadlines and balance resource utilisation.
