Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Working as a Senior Structural Engineer within the Design Division, you will be responsible for making design decisions and recommendations based on the project requirements. You must be able to effectively communicate with and direct the work of other engineers and drafters on your team to successfully meet project targets and deadlines.

Requirements

Preference will be given to qualified candidates who can demonstrate experience in the following:

• Preparing viable alternative structural concepts, study these in relation to suitability, constructability and economy, and proposing the most suitable alternative.

• Determining in coordination with the Lead Engineer the appropriate analysis modeling strategies and software for use on the project.

• Identifying requirements in coordination with the Lead Engineer for specialist inputs and ensuring that these are obtained at appropriate times during the design process and incorporated in the design.

• Carrying out design reviews at appropriate intervals during the design process with the Lead Engineer.

• Carrying out detailed design coordination with other disciplines.

• Managing other professionals on a project basis (engineers, BIM/AutoCAD technicians, and support staff) and ensuring that work produced is to the required quality, produced on time, and within man-hour budget.

• Ensuring that the structural department’s QMS is being implemented and that the engineers assigned to QMS functions are fulfilling these functions effectively (on a project basis).

• Responding to site RFIs, conducting reviews of specialist supplier/contractor prepared designs, and attending site meetings to resolve construction problems related to structures.

• Inspecting, assessing and reporting on existing structures.

• Thorough understanding of structural behavior, soil/structure interaction, local and international design codes and standards.

• Knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as Revit, STAAD, ROBOT, ETABS, SAFE, ADAPT, and AutoCAD.

• Excellent communication and time management skills

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 10 years of related experience.

Professional registration such as CEng, PE or similar is desirable.

Prior experience working with a Consultancy in the Gulf Region would be advantageous.
