Senior Structural Engineer - Steel

Job description / Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer - Steel to join the Biggest Construction Company in the Middle East.

This role will supervise activities of design review - (structural) to prepare Structural-Steel preliminary drawings and take responsibility to prepare / modify design related drawings, design review and peer design review reports, etc. while establishing its conformity with the requirements. Directing Technical engineers and senior draftsman to provide design assistance to management in evaluating tenders, reviewing projects, supporting on site construction activities, and carrying out other related activities as required.

This position reports to Structural Section Head.

Job responsibilities include:

1. Receive instructions from Section Head-(Structural) about design specifications, design criteria, tender/ contract specifications and other related information to initiate preparation of Structural-Steel design review and peer design review.

2. May help-in evaluating project related technical / design costs and assist in making recommendation for cost reduction and control.

3. As per instruction from the Section Head-(Structural-Steel),May explain the design intent of designer to technical engineers and resolve interdisciplinary technical issues to ensure that most effective and efficient design is adopted for the preparation of drawings review.

4. Provide supervision for the preparation of drawings based on tender/contract specifications and forward to section head (Structural-Steel) for review.

5. Provide Structural-Steel design models and design calculations as required.

6. Review final plans, drawings, special conditions and agreements prior submission to the Section Head-(Structural-Steel) for review.

7. Coordinate drawings with other sections such as architectural, electrical, mechanical, etc. to finalize drawings reviews.

8. Follow up issues related to drawings and provide support to site structures / technical engineers for any changes to secure consultants approval.

9. Liaison with engineers of other sections to resolve any conflicts in designs or to modify drawings.

10. Give assistance to the Structural-Steel technical team under him through the construction documentation process, check for code compliance, and maintain wide range of reports required at different phases of project.

11. Supervise the preparation of progress reports received from Technical Engineers and Senior Draftsman and other related reports and forward it to Section Head (Structure).

12. Provide supervision and guidance to team of technical engineers and draftsman on all technical drawings issues and other matters to ensure quality work is produced and Structural-Steel safety is achieved.

13. Perform work involving a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

14. Develop and update computer analysis programs or tracking systems for appropriate projects.

15. Perform other duties of a comparable level as assigned.

16. Actively involved and participating with Peer Design Reviewers for the Preparation of Peer Design Review reports for concerned / selected projects.

Requirements

Who we are looking for:

1. Bachelor degree or higher in engineering discipline Civil or Structural.

2. Affiliation to international professional bodies (e.g. ACI, ASCE, AISC, IStructE, Saudi Council of Engineers, International Council of Engineers, Society of Engineers, Professional Engineers, etc. )

3. Extensive knowledge of international codes and standards such as International Building Codes, Uniform Building Codes, and ACI codes, Saudi Codes, British Standards, etc.

4. Required Twelve plus (12+) years of technical experience in Civil/Structural-Steel field, including site construction experience.

5. Minimum Three (3) years at supervisory/managerial level.

6. Fluency in English and/or Arabic language.

7. Essential and professional computer skills (Autocad, BIM-Revit, MS Office suite, Sap2000, Etabs, Safe, PROKON, PCA, S-Concrete,.....etc)..
