Senior Structural Engineer

Job description / Role

We are currently searching for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our established design team in Riyadh. The individual must be able to demonstrate a strong track record in of working for an Engineering Consultancy.

Job Purpose

To provide high level technical/design engineering service to the Group acting as Job Leader on projects as required.

A Senior Engineer must be able to deliver to the agreed technical standards
Must be able to lead a small team of structural engineers and also liaise with Client and Contractor.

The individuals must be a degree holder with a minimum of 10 years experience and must be a chartered engineer with registered engineer status.

In addition to these skills they must be able to demonstrate a developing capability across all Buro Happold Core Competencies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Act as Job Leader
- Work competently on an independent basis
- Communicate directly with Clients
- Prepare technical and financial proposals for new work
- Manage workload of Project Discipline Engineers and Technicians (including verification of quality)
- Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design
- Prepare Technical Specifications
- Monitor financial performance of jobs
- Set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary).
- Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the client are achieved.
- Ensuring all relevant BH staff are informed of client matters.
- Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the clients best interests and that BH policy is in keeping with current legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice etc.

Requirements

Essential Experience

- Typically over 10 years experience of structural design engineering.
- Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with ability to work independently.
- Chartered membership of a professional institution.
- Broad design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects.
- Excel (a detailed understanding including the use of macros).
- The applicant will need to have strong interpersonal and organisational skills.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree (BEng) / BSc or Masters degree (MEng) / MSc.
- Chartered Engineer CEng MIStructE or equivalent.

Person Specification

Desirable Experience
- Ideally, the candidate will also have considerable experience working on international projects or in the Middle East and REVIT Software Knowledge.
