The RoleThe RoleThe Senior Substation and MV Distribution Engineer will be responsible for the supervision, co-ordination and management of the technical aspects associated with the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the main electrical substation and MV Distribution system associated with the project, especially especially the site phase of the work. Responsibilities include the management of engineering interfaces, design information and supervision and management of the equipment supply Contractor(s) to ensure the timely and correct completion of the works. This is an important role within the organisation and as such is a key appointment. Key Responsibilities 1. Maintenance of adequate communication links and interfaces between all project disciplines and Rolling Mill Engineer / Site Manger 2. Supervise, manage, coordinate and control the site activities of the Project Team and Rolling Mill supply Contractor 3. Manage and coordinate the technical interfaces or clarifications between disciplines, the supply Contractor and project areas. 4. Maintain surveillance of all project activities and where necessary initiate corrective actions in conjunction with the Rolling Mill Engineer to meet the projects objectives 5. Ensure compliance with the Technical Specification and Performance criteria during design, installation and operation of the Plant 6. Ensure that adequate inspections and tests are carried out and the results are properly documented to ensure safe, reliable and correct operation (including participation in Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, etc.) 7. Ensure adherence to or improvement on project time schedule 8. Identification and management of project risks 9. Ensure that satisfactory safety standards and safe working practices are adhered to 10. Ensure that appropriate quality standards are implemented and adhered to 11. Attend regular progress review meetings to facilitate the production of regular progress reports. |
RequirementsRequirementsQualifications Essential - English is the main language to be used on the contract and therefore the candidate should be able to demonstrate good verbal and written English. Desirable - Ideally, candidates must be able to operate at degree level or equivalent. - The ability to communicate in Arabic would be an advantage. Experience Essential: - Experience of working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East „« Proven experience of managing utility related activities for a large scale manufacturing project from inception to completion. Desirable: - Experience of working within the Steel industry sector. Other Attributes / Abilities The candidate should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the strategic issues affecting the business and be a results orientated proactive self-starter. He should be able to offer practical examples of when he has used the competencies identified below. About the CompanyAbout the CompanyThe South Steel Plant will produce top quality steel billets and concrete reinforcement bars in accordance with Saudi and international standards. The plant will have an initial capacity of One million tonnes per annum. Feasibility studies and designs have been completed with the aim of doubling productivity to Two million tonnes per annum in the future. |
