Senior Systems Administrator

Job description / Role

The main purpose of this job is to maintain ADIB IT infrastructure systems availability and continuity, Systems Administrator plans, develops, installs, troubleshoots, maintains and supports an operating system and associated server hardware and software ensuring optimum system availability, integrity, security, backup and performance.

This requires:
1. Monitoring infrastructure systems using standard monitoring tools to maintain the uptime/stability of Bank systems
2. Providing technical support and higher level support for service desk and desktop support teams to meet SLA signed with Business departments.
3. Participating in on-call rotation to provide support for working teams during non-working hours, weekends and vacations.
4. Providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer to other system administrators and other support teams.

Requirements

- Bachelor degree in computer science or any equivalent combinations
- 5 years system administration experience
- Extensive (min 5 years) experience installing and supporting Microsoft server infrastructure (hardware and software) and supporting products in an enterprise environment.
- Experience providing services for in excess of 1500 users across multiple sites & locations.
- Understanding of the problems and considerations of rollouts and system changes on a large user base
- Detailed knowledge of DNS, AD (2003 or 2008)
- Detailed knowledge of Windows 2003, Windows 2008 and all services and components
- Good understanding of NTFS permissions, Group Policies.
- Experience of working in a change controlled environment.
- Appreciation of SLAs and KPIs.
- Experience of VMware/Citrix enterprise virtualisation products and technologies.
- Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, ports, TCP, UDP, routing tables, subnets, VLANS
- Understanding of SAN concepts (LUNS, hard and soft zoning, HBAs, WWNs)
- The ability to document work to a high, clear standard.

Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of HP servers.
- Knowledge of HP backup and storage hardware.
- Experience of recent version of Netbackup or similar enterprise backup system.
- Production experience of Windows 2008 server & Windows 2008 Core.
- Current Citrix support and configuration experience.
- Experience of working with equipment and services based in remote lights out Data Centres
