Senior Urban Planner - Qatar

This exciting opportunity has become available to be part of a growth firm that develops iconic mega projects worldwide. An opportunity has now arisen within one of our clients key projects, a mega futuristic city project for a Senior Urban Planner.

This city project extends across 38 square kilometers and includes four exclusive islands and 19 multi-purpose residential, mixed use, entertainment and commercial districts.

This is a comprehensive arena of leisure spots, residential buildings, commercial towers, avenues and public ports. This city will accommodate 200,000 residents and 170,000 employees and 80,000 visitors.

The core of this role is to provide practical and cost effective planning solutions to the organization and its clients in a professional manner. Equally this role is responsible for the provision of a development assessment service as a One Stop Shop.

Reporting to the Head of Development Control Planning, your responsibilities include to:
- Liaise with investor's consultants and architects to provide guidance and advice regarding building applications and permits.
- Make the necessary assessments and recommendation of building applications and liaise with other authorities to facilitate approval process and issue approval for all type of submission
- Work with master planners to develop a comprehensive understanding of all regulations associated with the different precinct in the development and apply accordingly to building applications.
- Confer with local authorities, architects, designers and land planning and development specialists to devise and recommend arrangements of land, new building projects and physical facilities for residential, commercial, industrial, recreational and community uses.
- Prepares reports and recommendations on measures affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, and housing and transportation to control and guide community development and renewal for client projects.
- Review and evaluate environmental impact reports applying to specified projects and programs.
- Keeps informed and updated with development in this specialized area to enable the creation of value for the firm.

Requirements

- Bachelor Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture or Urban Design plus must possess a minimum of 5 years experience in developing and implementing large scale Master Plans and Regulatory Plans for Municipal, Town Centre, and Action Area Master Plans.
- Experience working in an urban planning, municipality or state planning authority.
- High level technical skills in the area of Urban Planning particularly in the field of development assessments and building approvals with ability to use modern computer based design tools.
- Leading edge knowledge in strategic and statutory planning and the implementation of planning policy.
- Demonstrated high level understanding of government processes, policy development and analysis and analytical problem solving, particularly as these relate to land use planning, land management and town planning requirements for physical development and community facilities. This would include a sound knowledge and demonstrated advanced skills in the interpretation of the relevant planning regulations and legislations.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare or mentor the preparation of timely and accurate written advice, briefings, reports, proposals and complex submissions in relation to statutory planning and policy matters.
- English language skills are essential with Arabic language skills being highly regarded.\
- Excellent skills in consultation, networking, advocacy and communication.
