Senior Urban Planner - Saudi Arabia

Hill International is seeking to employ Design Manager, with Strong Mega Residential/Mixed Use project experience, for one of its on-going projects in Saudi Arabia to be based in Riyadh.

General Description of Role & Responsibilities:
- Develop RFPs and scope for urban planning and design consultants.
- Direct the development of building prototype plans and a program for continuous improvements with input from marketing team.
- Technically review and suggest best practices for the design of all product types.
- Study and implement improved efficiencies for design and construction stages.
- Identify engineering grey areas on given project documents and suggests, within a short time course of actions, to rectify as necessary.
- Perform redline reviews of all plans during each design stage for suggested value engineering.
- Contribute with the urban planning and design of product.
- Attend, manage, and take minutes to ensure compliance of design consultants to adhere to schedule of deliverables, and full coordination between all disciplines.
- Support Procurement and Contracts department.
- Reviews and analyzes design requirements, and establish scope of work and priorities for the different engineering services departments.
- Follows-up & assists the Project Management during the execution phases to ensure client design requirements are fulfilled.
- Organizes & conduct coordination meetings with internal departments and third party teams to evaluate progress of work and ensure alignment or work conducted by each trade, and compliance with requirements and standards.
- Meets with Consultants to clarify project design requirements and follows-up approvals.
- Provides and presents all final or as-built documents to the Technical Consultant.
- Guides and reviews work of design consultants to ensure progress is within schedule and complies with requirements, policies and procedures.
- Supports, assists, guides and trains MODON subordinates and motivates spirit of professionalism and career advancement.
- Identifies measures to reduce technical studies costs.
- Responsible for the design consultants work product content meeting the requirements of defined scope.
- Responsible for the work quality and deliverables of the consultants.
- Responsible for coordination and management of consultant presentations and communication and compliance with client requirements and needs.
- Maintain and develop the design and planning goals and needs of the projects.
- Coordinate these goals and needs with client to assure project compliance.
- Develop or collect the various project goals and needs.
- Develop physical area and use programs for the various projects.
- Align lessons learned on field trips with goals and needs, and adjust to meet cultural requirements.

Requirements

- Masters Degree in urban planning and a degree in architecture or civil engineering is an advantage.
- Minimum 20 years experience, good communication skills, common sense, computer-literate, technical engineering background and Cad skills.
- Fluent in English (read, write and speak).
- Extensive knowledge and experience in urban design.
- Arabic speaking an advantage but not essential.
- Possesses the technical/professional knowledge required to successfully perform job duties.
- Proficient in English, speaking, writing and listening.
- Leadership - Demonstrates the ability to lead and direct others in accomplishing work.
- Skills in organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling workflow.
