Job description / Role
Our client, a highly respected independent renewable energy investment company as an exciting opportunity for a Senior Vice President - Business Development to join their team in Dubai.
Reports to: CEO
JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for the business expansion of the business. This role brings together a range of finance skill, knowledge and experience in renewable energy to identify investment opportunities, generate deals and manage equity stakes in ventures.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
The company has a flat org structure - Successful applicant would work with a shared pool of 3 junior resources along with other senior professionals specialised in renewable energy, project origination and project finance.
Financial Dimensions:
Initial equity investment of approx. USD $ 100.000.000
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Support delivery of company strategy and annual business plan:
- Active participation in strategic planning of investment projects and contribute to annual strategy and business plan
- Analyse the market for strategic acquisitions in selected market combinations related to the strategy
- Develop an origination strategy, to be updated annually
- Continually assess the existing international portfolio for investment, divestment, merger and/or growth opportunities to maximise return on investment
Ensure successful investments which are aligned to the Company strategy:
- Build and maintain a network of relevant contacts to provide company with opportunities leading to optimum investment performance
- Maximize collaboration with partners across the lifecycle of the investment
- Ensure level of commercial returns achieve on investment
- Provide (periodic) financial reports advising on investment performance - returns, new opportunities, cash flow projections
Identify and negotiate the appointment of external advisers and partners:
- Manage resources/advisers to rapidly execute all relevant transaction contracts in line with company corporate requirements
Represents company in Joint Ventures or other forms of participation boards, government authorities and agencies:
- Actively drive strategy and initiatives through joint arrangements
Stakeholder management with potential partners, international organizations, and global partners/investors:
- Represent company to senior business partners and government institutions (both within UAE and outside UAE).
- Establish strong ties with international organizations and receive recognition for company RE as best industry standard
- Continually engage and exchange knowledge/views in the industry to maintain an up to date view of the market
SPAN OF COMMUNICATION:
- Internal: Directors; Management, Asset Management., Finance, Audit, Procurement, Legal, legal, tax and M&A.
- External: Advisers, consultants, project partners, investment banks, technology partners, authorities
JOB RELEVANT INFORMATION (BOUNDARIES & DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY):
- Responsible for the investment, divestment and international growth platform of the company asset base. The job-holder is responsible for the annually updated origination strategy and after approval is accountable for its execution.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor in Business, Finance or Engineering
- MBA preferred
Preferred Experience:
- 14+ years of investment experience - with knowledge of the renewable energy sector
- Successful track record of origination and portfolio management of private equity backed (Energy) companies
Job-Specific Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of investment and project finance
- Knowledge and deep interest of the renewable energy sector
- Exceptional relationship building, negotiation and communication skills - Able to work in a fast paced, diverse environment
- Ability to prioritize actions and manage a diverse team
