The Role


The Role


BP is currently drilling and testing appraisal wells with 1 rig in Block 61 concession in Oman. The project is tight gas development. Upon government's approvals; the plan is to acquire 2 more rigs in 2013 and subsequently 1 additional rig per quarter up to 8-10 operating rigs. In anticipation of this ramp up, we are building the organization to deliver the plan to drill around 300 wells for Phase I development. The Senior Wellsite leader will support drilling and completion operations for multiple rigs in the field. The positions will require some time to be spent in the Muscat office undertaking planning, budgeting, people development supporting Wells Team Leader. This role will report to the Wells team Leader. In the field, the position will require standardization between all rig operations.

*Clearly demonstrates HSE commitment and consistently applies appropriate BP and Contractor HSE standards and practices. Ensure there is a safety culture that understands and manages HSE and operational risks with appropriate mitigation plans developed in a consistent way.

*Ensure operations are in compliance with relevant legislation and BP policies in a consistent manner and appropriate dispensations are in place. Ensure the site safety and environmental management systems are implemented in a consistent manner.
Help Wellsite leaders to achieve right behaviors by the personnel for all HSE campaigns.
Responsible for ensuring all BP EPTG Rig Audit actions are closed out and remain closed.
Active participation in STOP / SOC / internal process audits on a daily basis.

*Evaluate BP wellsite staff competency, training, and skills assessments and make sure they are performed in a consistent fashion. Work with Rig Manager to ensure Drilling Contractor personnel have required competencies and action plans to close gaps. Lead rig site meetings and verify that all team members fully understand the objectives of the operation, potential risks associated and their role in delivering a safe and successful outcome. Coach WSL, WSDE, Rig Asst and contractors as appropriate.

*Review Management of Change documents and verify that changes to well program are being implemented in a consistent manner. Continuously seek ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations. Monitor well operations and support rig teams to safely minimize downtime and control costs, ensuring NPT and ILT are tracked regularly. Accountable for successful implementation of Continuous Improvement Process or equivalent (Technical Limit) at rig site.

Requirements

Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent field.

*Minimum 10 -15 years of drilling and completions experience with at least 5-10 years supervising drilling related operations in the field.

*Strong evidence of delivering HSS&E Leadership by achieving established KPI levels.

*In depth knowledge of well control policy and procedures.

*Current IADC/IWCF Well Control Certification supervisor level

*Experience in following company standards and practices.
