Senior/Associate Site Electrical Engineer - Qatar 6 Month Fixed Term

We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Qatar for a 6 month fixed term contract for immediate start or as per availability of individual. The correct individual must be able to demonstrate a significant track record of working as Senior Electrical Engineer with respect to the detailed design of buildings projects.

The project is being developed by a Qatari company, Msheireb Properties. The project is a major 1million sq.m. mixed use development in the centre of Doha. The project is regenerating the centre of the city to provide traditional Qatari style architecture and development with an emphasis on practical low energy solutions and sustainability. Combining narrow streets and open squares with a public transport system, the design is enabling a vibrant and commercially successful city district. The construction on Phases 2 and 3 commenced in 2012 and is expected to be completed by 2016.

The project is managed and administered by Msheireb Properties along with Turner International Middle East. BuroHappold is a sub-consultant to Gensler, the lead consultant and architect, and are employed as Structural and Building Services Engineers on Phase 2 and Structural Engineers on Phase 3. BuroHappold now act as the Guardians of the Design Intent as part of a site based team.

Job Purpose:
- Site based Senior Electrical Engineer on a large middle eastern construction project focussing on the interpretation of the design information.
- Part of team responsible for acting as Guardian of the Design Intent on a project designed by Buro Happold engineers in the UK.
- Responsible for responding to design related questions raised by the Supervision Consultants and the Project Management Team

Key Responsibilities:
- Being the Senior Electrical Engineer on the project and reporting to BH Project Director.
- Advise BH Project Director of any technical aspects of the Electrical works that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
- Respond to Requests for Information raised by the contractor in relation to the information issued for construction and ensure that information from the design engineers is incorporated.
- Review Contractors Electrical shop drawings, method statements and material submittals against the contract drawings for compliance where issues associated with the design intent are being questioned.
- Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the Electrical works for Contractors adherence to the design intent in drawings and specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
- Provide advice to the BH Project Director in regard to any Electrical services related variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.

Requirements

- Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer.
- Minimum requirement of HND level education.
- Minimum of 7 years experience
- Ideally bachelors degree in Engineering (BEng) or Masters degree in Engineering (MEng).
- Significant relevant experience on site, ideally on large scale projects in the Middle East.
- Mixed-use experience is highly desirable.
