Service Engineer

Job description / Role

My client, a distributor of mechanical and electrical products into the oil and gas sector, is seeking a 'Service Engineer'. You will be based in their Dubai offices but spend a lot of time in the field servicing the numerous offshore rigs in which their products are being used mainly for water treatment.

This position will require the ability to apply electrical and mechanical theory and associated knowledge in the testing, commissioning, operating, maintaining and repairing of various electronic, electrical and mechanical devices and equipment to enable the safe and correct completion of assigned work.

The role requires the creation, implementation and utilisation of technical procedures and routines to achieve the required service objectives at a technical level. Service Engineers will require the ability to apply their fault finding and diagnostic skills to a wide variety of equipment on a daily basis.

There will also be occasions when the Service Engineer will be called upon to carry out night shift and offshore work.

Requirements

- Technical degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a similar technical role
- Valid driving licence
- Excellent Professional manner and personal presentation at all times.
- Proven skills in electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering.
- Proven skills in technical management, fault finding and maintenance.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge both mechanical and electrical.
- Ability to learn quickly the operation, function and performance of new products and equipment.
- Willingness and ability to pass on product knowledge and engineering experience to subordinates.
- Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and self-manage.
- Ability to maintain a consistent high level of performance.
- Effective problem solving and fault identification skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Flexible attitude and able to effectively and enthusiastically cope with change.
- Ability to work in a multicultural and inclusive environment.
