Shipping Accountant

Job description / Role

To assist in the management of the Group finance department, ensure that statutory and management financial requirements are met for the allocated Group Entities and provide information to senior management as required.

1. Key Job Deliverables/Responsibilities:
1.1 To follow internal financial policies and procedures to ensure that the financial requirements of the group are met.

1.2 For the relevant companies:
1. Prepare management accounts in accordance with internal procedures including variance analysis to highlight key business drivers to senior management.
2. Manage working capital of the companies by ensuring that all suppliers are paid accurately and timeously, all revenue collected within agreed terms and cash positions reflect banking terms.
3. Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with agreed accounting principles and in accordance with agreed internal and external timescales.
4. Ensure that monthly reconciliations are performed and signed off by senior management.
5. Ensure that all inter-company balances are agreed with group-finance within agreed timescales
6. Liaise with external service providers e.g. auditors & tax advisers.
7. Prepare annual budgets
8. Prepare monthly reforecasts and cash flow projections in accordance with agreed terms and to ensure that agreed plans are implemented to ensure that internal financial targets are achieved.
9. Produce financial information for company board meetings
10. Attend management meetings and contribute to discussion at said meetings.
11. Maintain standard operating procedure manual and update to reflect developments within the group.

3. Previous Experience/Qualifications:
Qualified accountant with 3-5 years PQE
Experience in preparation of management and statutory accounts
Good understanding of IFRS
Experience of Shipping essential
