Site Agent / Civil Works Foreman

Job description / Role

Our company seeks an experienced Site Agent/Civil Works Foreman for an expected project in Somaliland. The project is to construct affordable housing units for an UN funded project. Act as a liaison between workers and management in the construction of affordable housing units for UN funded project in Somaliland. Ability to ensure that work is done correctly while guaranteeing that all deadlines are met and safety procedures are followed. Diverse construction background with capacity to understand individual jobs and ability to work with subcontractors. Excellent people skills required and knowledge of language and culture is a plus. Ability to train, delegate, and manage a team of workers is a must. Needs to be a proactive individual that is able to multitask and troubleshoot problems as they arise. Needs to have working knowledge of computers including project management software. Able to complete all required documentation including providing status updates in a timely manner.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

* A minimum of 5 years of total experience
* A minimum of 3 years of experience in large multi-housing residence units or similar works
* A minimum of 2 years of experience as a manager
* Previous experience working in East Africa, ideally Somaliland
* If not currently living in Somaliland willing to relocate for approximately seven months
* Excellent level of English both written and spoken
* Experience in reading and interpreting architectural drawings
* Experience in construction projects over at least US$350,000
