We are representing a major luxury hotel casino operator who are about to commence the refurbishment of their landmark property in Macau, near Hong Kong. The current casino hotel is a five star establishment with 800+ bedrooms and large gaming facilities. The hotel has been around for a number of years and in 2012, they are starting a rolling programme of upgrading the hotel bedrooms, gaming areas, restaurants, retail outlets and other guest facilities. During this process, the hotel will still be live, so it is critical that there is minimum impact on the guests.

To now join the management of this project, they are looking to identify and recruit a senior interior design manager to join them on a permanent basis in Macau and take full responsibility for managing the interiors team, with a specific focus on hands on leadership of the Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E).

Key duties include: Direct and manage a team of designers consisting of FFE Designers, CAD designers and outside consultant designers. Responsible for creating design concepts, client presentations, FFE budgets, coordination and completion of projects. Prepare reports for executive management regarding status of projects. Ensures design documents and specifications are completed on time and adhere to the established company standards. Work in coordination with other company departments to establish project programs, schedules, budgets, bids and proposals. Assist construction team with field review of all projects to determine compliance with design documents and coordinates with contractors as required by construction team. Assist purchasing team with coordination of FFE specifications and vendor factory reviews. Direct all project FFE installations. A wide degree of creativity and flexibility is expected. Familiar with a variety of design concepts, practices, and procedures.

In return, our client is offering a long term, permanent role on a landmark project with clear responsibility to lead the interior design aspects of the construction. Our client is prepared to pay a full salary package, with a basic salary on offer of circa US$140-150k per annum, which will also take advantage of Macau's low income tax rate of 6%, plus accommodation allowance, relocation allowance, annual flights, medical, bonus and other benefits.

Requirements

To be of the requisite calibre for this role, our client expects candidates to be able to demonstrate the following experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or equivalent
* Minimum 15 years experience in Interior Design or related field.
* Art History background helpful.
* Extensive interior design experience within major five star hotels
* Extensive interior design experience with major luxury retail brands
* Must have extensive knowledge of high end FFE and custom sources.
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of high end finishes required, including but not limited to carpets, fabrics, furniture, art sources, specialty finishes, marble and lighting.
* Both a Manager and Hands On
* Stable career history with former / current employers
* From consultancy or client-side
* Must present portfolio that reflects a proven aptitude for imaginative design concepts and space planning, a strong sense of colour, eye for detail and a sense of balance and proportion.
* Must be well versed in photoshop, word, excel, outlook, and CAD.
* Must be flexible and have exceptional organizational and communication skills.
* Must have extensive experience producing and reviewing interior construction documents and FFE specifications.
* Possess problem solving skills
* Ability to work a flexible schedule that may require long work hours.
* Driven, with a positive and outgoing nature
* Strong communicator
