Environment Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

As we are experiencing growth across the region, we are looking to hire a Socioeconomist to be based in Dubai, UAE.

Duties & Responsibilities
The role is expected to play a key role in developing AECOM Middle East Environment Business Line social risk/impact assessment and stakeholders' consultation capability. The Socioeconomist will lead all aspects of social baseline surveys, social impact assessment in various ESHIAs. He will work closely with IAP Practice Area lead to deliver assigned projects and undertake any business development activity as directed. He will be fully responsible for management of the budget and timelines agreed with the project teams and IAP Practice Area Lead.
 
Qualification and Experience required

- Post Graduate degree from a recognized International University in Sociology/Anthropology/Development Duties/Development economics and related subjects

- More than 10 years of consulting experience as freelance or with an established consultancy on ESHIAs, stakeholders consultation, social risk and impact assessment, non-technical risk assessment, community investment plans, Public Consultation and Development Plans (PCDPs), community liaison and socio-economic baseline surveys and assessment. Oil & Gas/Energy/mining sector experience is a high plus.
Specific skills required
Arabic speaker with in-depth knowledge of different cultures and countries in the Middle East, Iraq and/or Iraq experience is a high plus, demonstrable record of technical report writing skills in the area of expertise. Knowledge of PCDPs, stakeholders' consultation plans and design and implementation of socio-economic baseline surveys is an important area of skill sets. Additional skills in environmental management or physical aspects of the environment will be a major plus.

Person Specification (Personality Attributes)
Presentable, team player, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to communicate at different levels within the corporate structure (internal AECOM) and Clients.
Ability to work under minimum supervision and mentor junior staff members of the team.

Additional Comments
Candidates based outside UAE who meet the above requirements will be considered. Candidates suitable for this role should have the ability and flexibility to travel in all regions within the Middle East or any other location assigned for short durations (few weeks).
