The RoleThe RoleSpreadsheet Modeller (Contract Position) The Commercial Planning and Allocation (CPA) Department currently uses Excel-based models to discharge its activities and generating outputs that are critical to the performance of Qatargas. However these models are have been developed inconsistently and no longer meet current standards. They require validation, scrutiny, and to be checked that they are fit-for-purpose and risk assessed. (Re) building the models according to best practice will ensure that risk has been minimised, standardization and consistency be realised, as well as training of new personnel is facilitated. Scope of Work: 1. Review the current models, maps and processes - to examine the models weaknesses, check the consistency of data flow within the models 2. Conduct model Gap Analysis and risk assessment - to help clarify objectives, current situation and action steps 3. (Re) Develop the models according to best practice including access control, revision log, version control, backups etc. 4. Create the necessary documentation for the new models 5. Design and provide training to personnel on the new approach of spreadsheet modelling and documentation. Currently the models interact among themselves and a set of external databases such as POIS (Plant Operations Information System) and EC (Energy Components). Preliminary model maps are available. |
RequirementsRequirementsPerson Specification Minimum Requirements Degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative discipline At least 5 years of Spreadsheet modelling experience Fully knowledgeable about Spreadsheet Modelling best practice demonstrated by successful projects Experience with Oil/Gas or Energy industries an advantage would be useful but not essential A high degree of self-management, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to handle tight deadlines. The ability to think through a problem and apply a logical, analytical approach to develop a solution Expert levels of computer proficiency in the use of MS Office especially MS Excel; in depth knowledge of VBA programming an advantage Strong oral communications as well as interpersonal skills Excellent investigative and critical thinking skills The ability to work and communicate as part of a team Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills |
