Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

JOB PURPOSE
To manage, as per ITIL V3, the IT infrastructure to coordinate and monitor the preparation and development of various IT infrastructure projects and computer operations which involves directing the feasibility studies, assessing infrastructure requirements, identifying network design, development, testing and implementation and building and maintaining a scalable agile IT infrastructure meeting operational and capacity requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Infrastructure Operations
Manage the “build” activities of the IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, network planning and design to maintain a scalable, agile IT infrastructure that meets operational and capacity requirement
Manage the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the company’s IT infrastructure
Architect, supervise and participate in the implementation of technologies and platforms supporting a complex corporate data and voice infrastructure. Ensure high availability of IT services that support internal employee business functions and external customer contact
Serve as the primary point of contact for telecommunication carriers and other IT service providers to ensure that IT services are delivered as expected
Evaluate new technologies and platforms to determine their applicability to solving business challenges and needs
Supervise and coordinate the preparation of feasibility studies and cost analysis for various projects as assigned by the IT Manager
Assist the IT Manager in identifying areas for development or recurring problems that may have an impact on the productivity and effectiveness of IT Infrastructure Systems
Monitor and report on the performance of IT services delivered based on service delivery established standards for performance measurement
Manage troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary
Manage the provision of business continuity support at various levels including networking, systems, users, database, management, quality, security, business applications, and telecommunications to minimize down time of IT services
Plan for disaster recovery drills and strategies
Collaborate with the other relevant staff of ITD to track and evaluate performance, introduce needed enhancements to Infrastructure, allocate the annual requirements, and evaluate new products or services
Oversee the development and delivery of ongoing information security awareness and incident response across the organisation, by addressing the physical and logical security aspects of these topics
Ensure that organizations IT assets are maintained responsibly
Assist in the training and development of IT staff, providing on-the-job training and instruction on corporate infrastructure systems
Participate in IT strategy formulation and give inputs regarding requirements of computer operations to facilitate current and future IT needs
Keep in regular touch with the latest technologies and assess how these can enable in providing better IT services
Allot responsibilities to staff reporting to the job holder in order to provide better end user - IT interface, quality of IT service and efficient customer support
Monitor and audit the usage of IT systems in the company
Conduct periodic performance monitoring meetings and reviews with the IT Manager and other staff as relevant to update the status of IT projects, systems and network availability, IT performance and concerns with respect to IT service delivery and support
Keep the reporting staff motivated and help them to meet IT goals and objectives

Supervision of Subordinates
Organise and supervise the activities and work of a team of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner
Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development
Oversee the training of subordinates to ensure that they are able to competently use computer hardware and software to deliver quality IT services
Marshall the IT resources and reporting staff to support computing and networking requirements with various levels of interfaces as required

Continuous Improvement
Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international leading practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Ensure that the IT policies and procedures are well established and clearly defined in corporate business systems and constantly reviewed
Implement approved departmental policies, processes, procedures and instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner
Operate within established company policies and procedures and in a well-structured organizational framework clearly defining the reporting relationships.

Reports
Prepare departmental statements and reports timely and accurately to meet department’s requirements,
policies and standards

Related Assignments
Perform other related duties or assignments as directed

Requirements

Qualifications and Knowledge:
Bachelor Degree in computer science, computer engineering or related engineering field. A Master’s degree in relevant discipline is highly preferred
ITIL V3 certification preferred.

Experience:
10 years of experience in a similar position
Sound knowledge and experience in enterprise computer networking, windows active directory and exchange environment, database concepts, business continuity planning and IT security

Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
