Sr. Project Development Engineer

Job description / Role

Our Client are looking for a Senior Project Development Engineer for Petrochemical Venture and the Job role would be mostly related to invest, foreign Investor coordination, and Project Development.

Principal Accountabilities
1. Support the department’s effort to implement the corporate downstream strategy and business plan.
2. Ensure the implementation of QP’s policies, project management processes and procedures throughout the project implementation.
3. Lead and control joint projects execution in terms of budget, costs, schedule, and quality. This is a key requirement of the position.
4. Responsible for providing primary analytical support to the department.
5. Evaluate downstream opportunities with foreign investors.
6. Assess the financial strength and industry status of the potential JV partners.
7. Evaluate the economic and technical feasibility of the proposed ventures. Evaluate economic costs, project benefits and economic aspects of projects.
8. Lead the profitable implementation of downstream opportunities by recommending cash/capital management and risk management approaches.
9. Ensure timely conveyance of up-to-date data and pertinent information to and from the prospective venture partners.
10. Challenge Partner’s proposals in regard to technical feasibility and implementation.
11. Review economic sensitivities to better assess projects profitability and risks.
12. Suggest and develop adhoc studies in relation with projects development.
13. Work with the project team to produce feasibility and design studies, and to evaluate bids and select contractors.
14. Review projects specifications and major packages along the project development.
15. Coordinate the timely input of information from the different QP directorates to the project, which is required for the project definition and advancement of negotiations.
16. Participate in negotiations of commercial project agreements.
17. Support the commercial negotiation team(s) on technical and project execution matters.
18. Protect QP’s interests in dealing with foreign partners.
19. Participate in the implementation of projects monitoring systems and assess projects performance.
20. Capture, analyze and integrate project information in order to support decisions
21. Collect and gather business information in relation to other QP departments and Affiliates.
22. Contribute to updating a knowledge and base of oil and petrochemical products and data.
23. Forecast supply demand balance availability of feedstocks and other raw materials.
24. Participate in the development of the departmental work plan. Contribute to elaborate the directorate business plan.
25. Participate in the long-term departmental development program in coordination with the other departments.
26. Communicate clear analytical findings to management.
27. Promote teamwork within the department while acting as a change agent for supporting the department continuous improvement.
28. Promote professional and trustworthy relations with prospective joint venture partners and technology licensors through the appropriate agreements.
29. Liaise with multi-disciplinary experts with regards to generating ideas and specific positions on process technology and business matters.
30. Keep informed on changes in the industry within the GCC region and worldwide, cognizant of the global economics (e.g. changes in production costs, operating capacity, etc, competitors, leaders in the industry and their profile).
31. Provide timely progress reports on projects and prepare necessary inputs for presentation materials intended for symposia, management meetings and business planning week.
32. Participate in training and development of Qatari graduates.
