The Role


The Role

PURPOSE OF WORK:
To provide specialized technical assistant to maintenance and technical departments in particular and the Refinery in general towards machinery related issues "solving problem, modifying and improving". To initiate the establishment for programs associated with rotating equipment. To provide root cause analysis for machinery failure. To assist in major machinery turnaround planning by writing the detailed scope of work. To act as Samref's pool of technical rotating equipment expertise to be applied to maintenance and capital project design. To develop Machinery Equipment Strategy and keep them updated.

REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES:

1. Interpret the collected vibration data. Make recommendations for mitigating vibration related equipment problems. Evaluate Samref's Machinery Vibration Analysis Program including computer hardware and software. And monitor critical equipment operating conditions.

2. Provide guidance and direction in the establishing a safe work environment.

3. Write written repair procedures that promote safe critical machinery repairs, completed within the required time .

4. Complete initial field follow-up for SAP notifications as requested by Operations, the Machinery Coordinator, Lead Technicians or Superintendents.

5. Investigate the machine failures to identify root causes. Establish written policies, practices or recommendations by which similar failures may be prevented.

6. Actively and independently seek out unreliable equipment by searching the SAP database and communicating with other departments. Develop proposals including benefits (economic and / or improved reliability) for correcting problems. Implement proposals and track results. Develop methods, calculate and publish Key Performance Indicators for Rotating Equipment.

7. Review the SAP repair history with Maintenance machinery , as required, and provide recommendations and guidance.

8. Support the Business Teams by meeting (as required) with them to address their machinery concerns.

9. Track and report on the effectiveness of PM programs. Regularly re-evaluate the frequencies and tasks of PMs, seek to extend the periods and reduce scopes while optimizing the probability of high equipment availability.

10. Provide technical support to Technical Department in machinery related design issues. Review and comment on TSR packages that include machinery.

11. Assist machinery parts standardization programs. Consider for recommendation to implement additional blanket agreements or new enhanced machinery supplier contracts. Assist the Material Control Group in machinery spares related issues such as "change description, increasing or reducing the warehouse min/max level...".

12. Prepare major rotating equipment scope of work package for planned major overhauls & T/A and assist the Machinery Coordinator in planning for the same.

13. Prepare machinery equipment strategy and keep them updated.

14. Provide vacation relief for the Supervisor, if required.

15. Provide Machinery related ISO reports.

Requirements


Requirements

Educational Requirements or Equivalent: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Specialized Knowledge: Good knowledge in refinery practices and machinery activities. Requires a thorough interpretation of SAMREF Policies and procedures. A technical exposure in pumps and compressors is preferred.

Previous Experience Required: 10 minimum years refinery rotating equipment Maintenance or Technical organization experience.

Working Knowledge to be Acquired on the job: Strong knowledge in machinery equipment reliability issues and quality control functions. Capabilities to handle and resolve all routine machinery problems. Latest technologies related to refinery maintenance activities and vibration diagnostics. Will gain initial leadership and teamwork skills. Will improve root cause analysis skills.
