Job description / Role
Provide 'state of the art' nursing care to burn patients within 3 stages:
- Emergent,
- Acute and
- Rehabilitative.
Requirements
- Performing sterile dressing changes, including standard wound dressings, biologic and biosynthetic dressings;
- Administering medication (including intravenous and intramuscular injections, topical antibiotics, Anti-anaemetics, Antacids, Narcotic Analgetics...);
- Transfusing blood and blood products;
- Performing tracheostomy care;
- Monitoring central venous pressure;
- Care for central lines;
- Assessing a burn injury using the Rule of Nines; calculating IV fluid requirements using the -Parkland formula and Consensus Formula;
- Comfortable reading CBC, metabolic panel, urinanalysis and chest x-rays
