Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Our client is a large family group based in the UAE with businesses across construction, Real Estate, Manufacturing, Retail and more. They are currently looking for a strategic planning manager to act as a business partner for the company leadership to enable the definition, planning and realization of value enhancing strategies for improved financial performance.

Responsibilities would be as follows:

Strategic Planning
- Facilitate operating company leadership in the development of strategic and operational plans
- Execute research, analysis, scope and plan in order to develop business enhancing strategies/decisions

Portfolio Management
- Translate strategic and operational plans into a prioritized set of value enhancing initiatives
- Detail each strategic initiative clearly outlining objectives, scope, approach, deliverable's, benefits, stakeholders, risks and resource requirements
- Develop an overall roadmap for delivery of the value enhancing initiatives, ensuring consistent alignment with business priorities

Strategy Execution
- Drive and facilitate the successful delivery of the portfolio of initiative
- Provide the first quality gate by determining the readiness of each deliverable, milestone and initiative based on predefined success criteria
- Proactive development and tracking of risk mitigation plans with efficient escalation of issues as necessary
- Disciplined reporting of initiative progress using the predefined reporting templates and processes
Manage and mentor project staff within matrix / no line reporting authority

Challenges
- Strategy Planning is a relatively new function within the group with a challenging role
- Acceptance and understanding for strategy planning function by the other functional areas within the group present a major challenge

Requirements

- An advanced degree in business management / engineering or equivalent
- High attention to organization and project management skills, strategy development and execution, and financial analysis and modeling
- Strong conceptual and analytical thinking and execution capabilities in complex situations to balance a strategic big-picture perspective with a focus on critical initiative details
- Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, quantitative, written/oral communication, follow-through and research skills
- A total of 10 years experience with a minimum of 4 years experience in strategic planning and execution in the UAE / GCC market
- A minimum of 5 years industry experience in any one or more industries related to Consulting, Foods and Commodities, Construction and Real estate, FMCG, Retail and Hospitality
- MUST ALREADY BE LOCATED IN THE GCC. Applicants not currently located in the GCC will NOT be contacted.
