Job description / Role
JOB PURPOSE:
To develop and drive corporate strategy development, to cascade planning process and through the organization; to develop and supervise Strategy Development, Business Planning, Competitive Intelligence management and Knowledge Management departments for Omantel in line with corporate strategy and goals and BU / FU needs; to ensure development of vision, mission and long term objectives for Omantel and also ensure that BU / FU business plans are aligned to overall strategic guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Functional (Process/Technical/Operational:
• Develop and implement Strategy, Planning and Business Intelligence strategies, targets and initiatives
• Drive development of vision, mission and long term objectives of Omantel
• Ensure that strategic planning process is in place and drive development of Omantel strategic plan
• Ensure consolidation of strategic and business plans of all BUs / FUs
• Ensure alignment of BU / FU business plans with overall strategic plans
• Provide support to some BUs / FUs to develop strategic plans
• Liaise with Finance to provide support and input to annual financial planning and budgeting process and Omantel annual financial plan and budget
• Consolidate IT and network plan and ensure consolidation with overall business and strategic plan
• Provide support and input to strategic network plan and strategic IT plan
• Develop competitive intelligence in the company by overseeing market and industry research for better decision making
• Provide support and input to target setting of Corporate Development unit
Customer:
• Support BU / FU VP to develop strategic plans
• Provide competitive intelligence and benchmarking reports to Board of Directors and BU / FU VP
• Support CEO in strategy related issues
Financial:
• Ensure adherence to operating budget of Strategy Planning and Business Intelligence division
People:
• Cascade Strategy, Planning and Business Intelligence targets to Senior Manager targets and initiatives
• Develop talent within the team by providing consistent direction and support to achieve stretch targets and take leadership positions
• Manage the team on a daily basis including resolving issues and maintaining high motivation levels within the team
• Complete timely, accurate, objective and fact-based performance appraisals for all direct reports
• Provide input to performance appraisals of peers
• Provide support and input to training master plan and budget as necessary
• Approve training course selection and participation for Senior Manager positions (in line with budget) as necessary
• Provide support and input to training course selection and participation for all positions (outside budget) and endorse the same for Senior Manager positions and below (outside budget) as necessary
• Design organizational restructuring and changes at Level-3 as necessary
• Provide support and input to organizational restructuring and changes at Level-2 as necessary
• Provide support and input to grading structure as necessary
• Design recruitment plan for Senior Manager, Manager and below positions as necessary
Measurable Deliverables :
• Delivery of Strategy, Planning and Business Intelligence strategies, targets and initiatives
• Timely and accurate preparation of business and strategic plans
• Negative variance from budget for Strategy, Planning and Business Intelligence division
• Attrition within Strategy, Planning and Business Intelligence division
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
• Post-graduate degree in Business Administration or Technology Management
Technical Skills:
• Advanced knowledge of strategic management
• Advanced knowledge of financial management
• Advanced knowledge of statistical tools
• Advanced knowledge of e – enabled project management tools
Behavioral Skills:
• Very good planning and organization skills
• Very good business judgment
• Very good written and oral communication skills
• Very good project management skills
• Very good people management skills
Language Skills:
• English
• Arabic
Specific experience:
• Should have been in a leadership role for at least 5 years
• Should have at least 3 years experience in a corporate strategy or planning role
Overall experience:
At least 8 years, of which at least 6 years from telecom
