Structural Design Engineer

Job description / Role

To plan, coordinate, and direct, design development, detail design, fabrication drawings & documents; supervise engineers, detailers / draftsmen, documentation, along with support personnel; use knowledge of Engineering & Design and natural sciences to oversee a variety of activities; determine project and technical goals within broad outlines provided by top executives. These goals may include improving production processes, optimization, planning & scheduling; make detailed plans to accomplish these goals; identify technical problems preventing the completion/efficiency of a project.

- Determines appropriate services / products with clients or customers to define project scope, requirements, and deliverable.
- Develops, modifies or provides input to engineering plans as required by the project.
- Implements engineering plans to meet objectives.
- Coordinates and integrates engineering activities.
- Manages, leads or administers resources.
- Monitors engineering activities and resources to mitigate risks.
- Implements or maintains QA / QC procedures.
- Makes improvements, solves problems, or takes corrective action when problems arise.
- Gives presentations or briefings about all engineering activities.
- Identifies documentation requirements or procedures.
- Conducts project closeout review, lessons learned, analyses cost-benefit aspect of the completed project.
